User: nitgrg Date: 2007-05-23 09:30:58
Hare Krishna Maharaj
Please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupad! All glories to Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga!
Maharaj we have some Tulsis at home. I am finding some kind of insects are eating up Tulsi leaves. I am not able to locate the culprits.
I wanted to ask if we can use Tea tree oil mixed with distilled water as a spray to do away with the culprits?
I am very much worried about Tulsi devi.
Thanku very much in advance.
Yours aspiring servant

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Jaya Guru Parampara! Pranams and Blessings! The term "tea tree oil" is somewhat of a misnomer since Melaleuca alternifolia is a paperbark rather than a tea tree (genus Leptospermum). Tea tree oil should also not be confused with tea oil, the sweet seasoning and cooking oil from pressed seeds of the tea plant Camellia sinensis or the tea oil plant Camellia oleifera.
So you can use Tea Tree oil to protect Tulasi devi. For further and other ways to protect Tulasi devi, please read the section on Tulasi Worship under Other Scriptures by Acharyas in the Nitai. In portal tree menu or in the NITAI Veda ebook. Some of the relevant links are here, here and here.
