Nityananda Gauranga Hare
Krsna
All glories to divine
chanting of Nityananda and Gauranga Mantrarajas!
All glories to Swami
Gaurangapada!
Dear Gurudeva, I have
questions about different ways of chanting.
In Sandilya Upanishad it is said "The
Vaikhari Japa gives the reward as stated in the Vedas; the Upamshu Japa which
cannot be heard by anyone gives a reward a thousand times more; the Manasika
Japa gives a reward a crore times more than the Vaikhari Japa."
Regarding to this
description ( I found it on net, so I am not sure about original translation),
manasika japa or mental repetition of mantra is very powerfull. I have several
questions about that
1. Is mental repetation
of mantra more powerful then loud, audio repetation of mantra?
2.Is mental repetation of
mantra also considering to be chanting, or only voice or audiable pronanciation
of mantras are count in sadhana?
3. Some devotees consider
that evan Naam Acharya Srilla Haridasa Thakur practiced manasika-japa, or that
he chanted about 1/3 of prescribed rounds mentaly?
4.Others consider that
manasika-japa is not for Gaudiya-vaisnavas because our process is
sravana-kirtana, listening and singing. Some devotees are thinking that this
manasika japa is for hatha, asthanga yogis or worshipers of Shiva. Is it true?
I am humbly offering my
obeisances unto you and all assembled devotees
Wishing you happy chanting and happy preaching
Nityananda Gauranga Hare
