Dear Swamiji,

Recently I was in a long discussion of aspects of Samsara as it is in theVedas with a Buddhist I have known for a long time. Various things he brought uphowever I find no evidence for in the Vedas, or I am interpreting itdifferently.

†† The main point was that he believed that all our associates, be they human orotherwise in this life, we have known before and are sent back to rectify pastsituations with them. For instance our greatest enemy in another life could beour best friend in the present. The man we briefly meet in a shop when buyingfruit also we have met countless times before etc and have been brought backtogethor specifically for the purpose of rectifying the past. I find these very interesting and nice ways of looking at the process ofreincarnation but am under the belief that our scriptures do not say this, andthis is simply designed to make the scientific concept of reincarnation moreattractive to those unfamiliar with it. Can you comment please?

Sorry Rama Nityananda dasa prabhu for the delayed response. This post justescaped my attention.

This theory of recitification as per above is unfortunately a speculatedtheory.

The law of karma and the Vedic principle of rectification states that forevery material action there is an opposite material reaction or tit for tat insimple english terms. So those who are helping us now, we have helped them inone of our millions of previous lives. And those who are harming us now aregiving us the reactions for the harm we caused to them in one of our millions ofpast lives. Or the Lord has simply matched a few of us together who have similarkarma to administer or be administered from someone else.

So our greatest enemy in this life is the one whom we have shown the greatestenemity in some past life and our greatest friend in in this life is one whom wehave shown and exhibited great friendship with in one or some of our pastlives.
