Jaya Nityananda! Jaya Gauranga! Jaya Hare Krishna!
†All glories to His Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada!
†All glories to His Holiness Tridandi Bhikshu Bhaktiratna Sadhu Swami† Gaurangapada Maharaja!
†Recently I was in a long discussion of aspects of Samsara as it is in the† Vedas with a Buddhist I have known for a long time. Various things he brought up† however I find no evidence for in the Vedas, or I am interpreting it† differently.
†† The main point was that he believed that all our associates, be they human or† otherwise in this life, we have known before and are sent back to rectify past† situations with them. For instance our greatest enemy in another life could be† our best friend in the present. The man we briefly meet in a shop when buying† fruit also we have met countless times before etc and have been brought back† togethor specifically for the purpose of rectifying the past. I find these very interesting and nice ways of looking at the process of† reincarnation but am under the belief that our scriptures do not say this, and† this is simply designed to make the scientific concept of reincarnation more† attractive to those unfamiliar with it. Can you comment please?
Answer by Swami Gaurangapada:
Sorry Rama Nityananda dasa prabhu for the delayed response. This post just† escaped my attention.
†This theory of recitification as per above is unfortunately a speculated† theory.
†The law of karma and the Vedic principle of rectification states that for† every material action there is an opposite material reaction or tit for tat in† simple english terms. So those who are helping us now, we have helped them in† one of our millions of previous lives. And those who are harming us now are† giving us the reactions for the harm we caused to them in one of our millions of† past lives. Or the Lord has simply matched a few of us together who have similar† karma to administer or be administered from someone else.
†So our greatest enemy in this life is the one whom we have shown the greatest† enemity in some past life and our greatest friend in in this life is one whom we† have shown and exhibited great friendship with in one or some of our past† lives.
