Who authorized you to accept disciples and what is your disciplic succession?

Answer by Swami Gaurangapada:

My Diksha Guru His Divine Grace Bhaktishastri Parampada dasa Maharaja, who was the disciple of His Divine Grace Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada and the godbrother of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada specifically ordered me to accept disciples by placing his lotus hand on my head.

†† I had asked him that I can get all the devotees to him and he ordered to give Nityananda, Gauranga and Hare Krishna Nama directly to everyone and accept them. He said he will be the Grand Guru of all my disciples. He said due to his ripe age of above 100 years, he cannot take the burden of accepting anymore disciples so he ordered me to increase the family of Lords Nityananda Gauranga devotees by giving Diksha to those who are willing to chant the Holy Names daily.

Shrila Prabhupada said that one should become Guru on the order of one's own Guru. That is the only consideration. No rubber stamp of an institution or committee is required for the same. Those who have been rubber stamped by institutions as Gurus have also left the path of devotional service. The blessings of the Guru Parampara Acharyas comes down through the order of one's Guru and that is the only consideration. Management or institution beaureaucracy cannot be above the order of a

Spiritual Master to the Disciple otherwise it will mean that practical decisions and arrangements are higher than the spiritual mercy of the Parampara.

You will find the complete chart of my disciplic succession: The Krishna Brahma Madhva Nityananda Gauranga Gaudiya Vinoda Sarasvata parampara chart here: "".

Some argue that your teachings of chanting Gauranga and Nityananda is not part of Gaudiya Vaishnava philosophy or practices of the Acharyas.w

Answer by Swami Gaurangapada:

This is a most ignorant statement minimizing the glories of the most causelessly merciful Holy Names of Nityananda and Gauranga. This is completely refuted in the book Nityananda Gauranga Nama compiled and commented by me, which can be read and downloaded from "" . In this book it is conclusively established with the original Bengali and Sanskrit verses that all the Scriptures and Acharyas have repeatedly taught us to chant Holy Names of Nityananda and Gauranga along with the Hare Krishna Mahamantra.

What is the basis of your acceptance of disciples without requiring them to chant regularly 16 rounds Hare Krishna?

Answer by Swami Gaurangapada:

I am not imparting the Hare Krishna Mahamantra Diksha to anyone who does not chant 16 rounds of the Hare Krishna Mahamantra and does not follow the principles. Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada had given Ashraya Diksha to more than 60,000 people who agreed to start chanting.

He would even give the Ashraya Diksha on the train etc. This is described by Jotishekara dasa prabhu, a disciple of Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta Prabhupada to Bhakti Vikasa Swami and is included in the upcoming book Lion Guru by Bhakti Vikasa Swami. He used to give full-fledged Diksha when they reach a steady stage of chanting. So the main desire of the Acharyas and Scriptures has always been to make people chant the Holy Names somehow or other. yena kena prakarena manah krishna nishavayet.

Also in the Bhakti Rasamrita Sindhu by Shrila Rupa Goswami, among the 64 limbs of Bhakti, the first three most important limbs are:

(1) adau guru ashrayam: First accept the shelter of the Guru & Name.

(2) shri krishna dikshadi shikshanam: Then accept Nama Diksha and Shikha from the Diksha Guru.

(3) vishrambhena guroh seva: And then serve the instructions of the Guru with great reverence.

I have simply formalized the first step of Guru and Nama Ashraya by giving the Nityananda Gauranga Nama Ashraya Mahadiksha which is a vow to the Spiritual Master & the Parampara to begin chanting a fixed number of Holy Names daily and is the beginning of all auspiciousness in life.

I only impart Diksha in the Hare Krishna Mahamantra at the satge of 16 rounds and 5 regulative principles (including following of Ekadashi vrata) as Krishna Nama considers the 10 offenses very strictly.

Did any Gaudiya Vaishnava Acharya ever gave Nitai-Gaura Nama Diksha?

Answer by Swami Gaurangapada:

This question has been answered by me many times. But I will do so again. Shrila Shivananda Sena's ishta (most worshipable) mantra was the four-syllable Gauranga (Gaura Gopala Mantra)_ according to Shri Chaitanya Charitamrita Antya lila 2.31. And the Ishta Mantra has always to be received from a Guru. It is not specifically described whom did he received the Gauranga Mantra from but it can be either Lord Nityananda Prabhu or Lord Advaita Acharya or Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu Himself as Shrila Shivananda Sena was a very elderly and senior Associate of the Their Lordships.

Also Lord Advaita Acharya gives Diksha in the Gauranga Mantra to the mother and father of Lord Gauranga before the birth of His elder brother Lord Visvarupa Sankarshana in Advaita Prakash. Though there may be some extracts of Advaita Prakash which may have been changed later, all pastimes in Advaita Prakash cannot be rejected wholesale.

This most important pastime of Gauranga Mantra Diksha by Lord Advaita Acharya to Shrimati Shachidevi and Shrila Jagannatha Mishra cannot be added in Advaita Prakash later by anyone as very few were aware of the full glories of the Gauranga Mantra. Sometimes there are additions done to scriptures to propogate the cause of the teachings of one's own parampara line which is not correct. But this cannot be applied to this description of Gauranga Mantra Diksha in Advaita Prakash as hardly any branch of the Gaudiya Vaishnava sampradaya was openly advocating or practicing the Gaura Gopala (Gauranga) Mantra at that time, so why would they want to add it to Advaita Prakasha. It was only Shrila Sacchidananda Bhaktivinoda Thakura who revealed the glories of the 4-syllable Gaura Gopala Mantra in his Amrita Pravaha Bhashya commentary to Shri Chaitanya Charitamrita Antya lila 2.31 and established that the Gaura Gopala Mantra is "Gauranga". Very rare souls actually knew before that about what is the Gaura Gopala Mantra and many has speculated about it.

How can anyone who leaves ISKCON be a follower of Shrila Prabhupada?

Answer by Swami Gaurangapada:

Shrila A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada left Gaudiya Math even though His Guru Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada had ordered not to leave and work together and he started ISKCON for practically implementing the order of his Guru Maharaja to preach in the Western world in a better way. Does that mean that Shrila Prabhupada is against his Guru Maharaja or Gaudiya Matha? No never. He was always the most humble servant of his Guru Maharaja and also always wanted to preach with

co-operation from Gaudiya Math and his godbrothers.

Shrila Prabhupada writes: "There are many societies and associations of pure devotees, and if someone with just a little faith begins to associate with such societies, his advancement to pure devotional service is rapid." (Nectar of Devotion: Chapter Nineteen p.41)

Shrila Prabhupada writes: "Krishnadas Kaviraja Goswami gives equal respect to all the preachers of the cult of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who are compared to the branches of the tree. Iskcon is one of these branches." (Chaitanya-charitamrita Adi-lila 10.7, purport)

So it is very clear that Shrila Prabhupada's teachings cannot be

restricted to one institution and any soul anywhere in creation can practice and reach it even though he or she may not be in any institution. I have discussed this issue at length at "" which you can read for further understanding.

The final consideration in this matter is no institutions will last more a small period of time as even the parampara started by Lord Krishna Himself disappeared within a short time so He had to give the same knowledge to Arjuna again on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.

No one can dispute or challenge the beautiful observation of Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada in this regard:

"The idea of an organized church in an intelligible form, indeed, marks the close of the living spiritual movement. the great ecclesiastical establishments are the dikes and dams to retain the current that cannot be held by any such contrivances. They, indeed, indicate a desire on the part of the masses to exploit a spiritual movement for their own purpose. They also unmistakably indicate the end of the absolute and unconventional guidance of the bonafide spiritual teacher. The people of this world

understand preventive systems, they can have no idea of the unprevented positive eternal life. Neither can there be any earthly contrivance for the permanent preservation of the life eternal on this mundane plane on the popular scale." (Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur, Harmonist 29.7)

Thus I am presently preaching single-handedly the chanting of Holy Names of Nityananda and Gauranga. No single institution has come forward till now to support this most critical preaching of the most magnanimous Holy Names in Kali Yuga. I appreciate the preachings efforts of the ISKCON society and am also willing to give any kind of cooperation they want from me. I came out of ISKCON because I would not be able to fulfill my mission

of freely distributing far and wide the most benevolcoent Holy Names of Nityananda and Gauranga while remaining there due to their institutionalized considerations which I respect.

But I have been divinely instructed and inspired by Seventh Goswami Shrila Saccidananda Bhaktivinoda Thakura to try my level best to spread the Holy Names of Nityananda and Gauranga till my last breath. And the causeless mercy of all the Acharyas including Shrila Prabhupada is there when one tries to popularize the eternal order of the Supreme Lord Nityananda Prabhu which

is constantly Gauranga's Holy Name.

Please tell us something about your brahmachari name?

Answer by Swami Gaurangapada:

My brahmachari name in ISKCON was Nayana-ranajana dasa which was given to me by Harikesha dasa prabhu (Earlier Swami at that time). Unfortunately later he left the life of active devotional service as Diksha Guru, so as per the scriptures I had to approach another Diksha Guru. I still pray for his spiritual welfare to Lord Nityananda. At one point of time, I was the number two set Shri Chaitanya Charitamrita and Shrimad Bhagavatam set distributor in the world as I always had the desire of fulfilling Shrila Prabhupada's vision that Shri Chaitanya Charitamrita and Shrimad Bhagavatam sets should be in the home of every person in this world.

It was by the causeless mercy of Their Lordships Lord Nityananda Gauranga at Yogapitha in Shri Mayapura Navadvipa Dhama that They ultimately sent me to my eternal spiritual master and illustrious disciple of Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada, Shrila Parampada dasa Maharaja who performed his bhajana for more than 40 years in most merciful Ambika Kalna Dhama where Lords Nityananda Gauranga had jumped out of the Deities and danced in the kirtana of Shrila Gauridasa Pandita. He most kindly accepted me as his Diksha disciple even though being very old at that time and gave me the initiated name Gaurangapada dasa.

I hope these answers help. Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna!
