Title: Question regarding chanting...

User: Swami Gaurangapada Date: 2006-11-06 11:52:00

Dear Swami Gaurangapada,

Please accept my humble obeisancess. All glories to Shrila Prabhupada.

I have a question in regard to chanting the names of Lord Gauranga and

Lord Nityananda.

In one of the quotes of Prabupada he says that one should first chant the

holy name of Gauranga and then chant the holy name of Nityananda.

So we should be chanting Gauranga-Nityanada instead of Nityananda-Gauranga.

And this sequence is also maintained in the mantra

"jaya shri krishna chaitanya prabhu nityananda shri advaita gadadhara shrivasadi

gaura bhakta brnda".

What do you say about this sequence..

Thank you & Hare Krishna.

Your servant,

Answer by Swami Gaurangapada:

†††† Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Please read the pastime in Shri Chaitanya Bhagavata in which how Shrila Murari Gupta was chatised by Lord Gauranga when he offered obeisances to Lord Gauranga first and then to Lord Nityananda.

Both the Lords appeared to him in a dream that night and he saw how Lord Balarama was walking ahead of Lord Krishna being the elder brother. So the next day he came and offered obeisances to Lord Nityananda and worshiped Him first and then He did the same to Lord Gauranga. Lord Gauranga was very pleased. Thus Shri Chaitanya Bhagavata teaches us that Lord Nityananda's Name and Pastimes should be chanted first before Lord Gauranga's so that Lord Gauranga is most certainly pleased. That is why even in the Deity form, Lord Nityananda is on the left so that He will accept my obeisances and worship first as we do it from left ot right and then Lord Gauranga will most certainly accept our worship.
