Title: How to prevent Falldown?

User: Bhushan†††††††† Date: 2006-09-07 13:37:37

Nityananda!Gauranga!Hare Krishna!

Shrila Vrindavana dasa Thakura ki Jaya

Shrila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakura Prabhupada ki Jaya

Shrila Prabhupada ki Jaya

Gurudeva,please accept my humble obiesances at the dust of your lotus feet

In Laksha Naam book,

Shrila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakura Prabhupada says.

"Everyone living in Gaudiya Math must make an effort to chant one lakh (100,000) of holy names (64 rounds of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra) daily. Otherwise, different types of material attachments may creep in one's heart that will hamper one's devotional service. In fact, the Lord does not accept food offerings from one who does not chant one lakh of holy names. One should balance his time so that he can finish one lakh of holy names per day and also perform his other allotted duties."

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Gurudeva although I chanting 1 lakh names is the ultimate goal,but because of my fallen condition i cant chant 1 lakh names regularly. Shrila Shrila Prabhupada says that if we dont chant 1 lakh names material desires will come and ones devotional service may be hampered and one may falldown.

I am already in fallen condition hence cannot chant 1 lakh names,due to anarthas. And unless I chant 1 lakh names material desires will attack me which will hamper devotional service. Reading this i am worried,maya is sooo strong.and due to my sinful fallen condn I am not 100% surrendered to Lord Krishna. Lord Gauranga is so mercifull,jst by chanting Holy Names using fingers and tongue,He gives Love of Godhead desired by exalted personalities.I am so fallen,knowing the result of chanting 1 lakh names daily,I still cant chant.

Gurudeva what is the solution out of this? How do I avoid material desires attacking me?How do I avoid falldown?I am fallen lacking any spirtual piety,frm where will I get strength and taste to chant 1 lakh?

Nityananda!Gauranga!Hare Krishna!All glories to Shrila Bhaktivinoda, Shrila Prabhupada, my most beloved Shrila Gaurangapada and all Vaishnavas.Please accept my humble obeisances and blessings.I pray that this meets you well and in the service/mercy of Shri Guru and Shri Gauranga.

My Dearest Bhushan Nityananda dasa Prabhuji;

We all begin our devotional service to Shri Guru and Shri Gauranga in a fallen state.When we sincerely approach the Lord through His bona-fide servant in the position of Guru can we begin to make advancement spiritually.One must be fully surrendered and trusting of the spiritual master for one's own spiritualsecurity.This means also that we are fully obedient to the orders of the spiritual master in that we follow closely his instructions and remain constantly at his lotus feet.

You are becoming distressed by looking at the most advanced position of chanting the Holy Names.One must begin slowly or one looses confidence in their spiritual advances.It is rare that one begins their spiritual life by chanting one lakh of the Holy Names daily.This is why Shrila Gaurangapada is so merciful to us by giving us different stages by which to attain easily this advanced goal.One must start at the bottom of the ladder if they truly desire to reach the top, it is the same in all persutes in life, both materially and spiritually.

If you go to Shrila Gaurangapada's Vanibase, under the link of Mahadiksha Science you will find the chanting stages.This is very important so that we stay in line with Shrila Gaurangapada's desires.One starts at the lowest level, which is voluntary.When one become an initiate, then one must observe other restrictions and begin to advance.This advancement takes time, humility and patience.Without humility, we think higher of ourselves than we trulyare, and without patience we jump to conclusions of our abilities to attain the ultimate goal.

Taste for chanting comes when we set out lives to its importance.We must set for ourselves a set number of rounds that we will attain daily.This means that if you set for yourself sixteen rounds of the Mantra-Rajas and sixteen rounds of the Maha-Mantra you NEVER fall below this number of rounds.As an initiate, this means that we follow strictly the orders of Shri Guru and maintain the minimum standard.Shrila Thakura Haridasa in Hari-nama-cintamani states:"After receiving the Name, if he chants with great care and attention a fixed number of rounds daily, then he will be able to awaken his dormant attraction for the Hare Krishna Maha-Mantra."

So, in following the example of Shri Haridas Thakura, Shrila Bhaktivinoda Thakura Prabhupada, Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta Prabhupada, and our very own Shrila Gaurangapada we come to understand that chanting one lakh daily is indeed possible.We must arrange our day to meet our own mantra requirements and not allow anything in this material world to persuade us otherwise.We must fully understand our position, and not allow anything in this material world ursup our quality time with the Lord.This means that our importance is placed upon our devotional service, not on the responsibilities that this world attempts to place upon us.No work, job, family responsibility is so great as to make us give up the chanting of the Holy Names.The Holy Names come first before anything else, even taking care of these material bodies.

Sastra tells us that we are maintained ultimately by the Lord.Nothing comes to us, nor do we desire anything outside of His will for us.If everything comes to us through His hand, then it behoves us to understand that when we demand these bodies to sit and chant, then this is the highest devotional service.As you have written in your post, Shri Gaurahari does not even accept bhoga from one who is not a Laksheshvara (one who chants 100,000 Names daily)We must become serious about our devotional service to the Lord if we desire in our hearts the most basic of His blessings.

Keep in mind the ultimate goal of Lasheshvara, but also be patient with yourself while you attempt to gain this goal.Many of us are praying for you to have strength and preserverance in your devotional so that you may join those of us who are chanting 100,000 Names daily along with our beloved Gurudev.

Your eternal servant;

Nitaipada Maharaja

Nityananda!Gauranga!Hare Krishna!All glories to Shrila Bhaktivinoda, Shrila Prabhupada, my most beloved Shrila Gaurangapada and all Vaishnavas.Please accept my humble obeisances and blessings.I pray that this meets you well and in the service/mercy of Shri Guru and Shri Gauranga.

My Dearest Bhushan Nityananda dasa Prabhuji;

You are most welcome.This is what the community of devotees is for.Those that are a little more advanced are to assist both Shri Gurudev in his persuites and endeavors, and also assist in bringing along those less advanced in spiritual affairs so that all may benefit by our small service.Shrila Gaurangapada's teachings and preaching efforts are the world to me, my humble service is to assist.

In the attempt to attain the goal of 100,000 Holy Names, we must take shelter of the community of devotees.This is where we gain our strength to move forward and the encouragement to attain such a lofty goal.If is indeed difficult to attain, and at times to maintain, but through the mercy of the Lord's Vaishnavas, it is indeed possible.It took me years of devotional service to attain this goal, but once reached, and through the mercy of Shrila Gaurangapada, I am most reluctant to release such a wonderful service.

Throughout sastra we are told of the strengths of the Lord's community of devotees.Now, through the medium of the internet, we have even more strength because we can support eachother from around the world in a matter of minutes.Even Shrila Prabhupada didn't have this blessing.It took weeks for a letter to reach him and return the encouragement needed for his disciples.Now, Shrila Gaurangapada and his disciples can reach out in minutes to everyone who is in need of strength, prayers and support!

Keep your mind focused upon the goal, and never release it from your heart.You will indeed attain the goal of Laksheshvara, but you must remain convenced in your heart and patient in your mind.

Shri Gaurahari told Shrila Krishnadas "Faith and conviction in the glories of the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra is the root cause of success in chanting.Without this faith, no one can get the desired results from the chanting process."You must remain strong in your faith and conviction to attain your goal!

Again, be patient with yourself.We are praying for you to remain strong in your convictions.

Your eternal servant;

Nitaipada Maharaja
