Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna!
Dear Swami Gaurangapada and assembled devotees,
please accept my humble obiesances.
†I've been thinking tonight about Gauranga Mahaprabhu's last twelve years in Puri, and some questions have come to my mind. I was hoping Gurudeva that you may be able to help. I wish to ask these questions to you directly since your guidance is the highest for me.
We can see that Gauranga Mahaprabhu spent his last years feeling great seperation. Some have described Mahaprabhu's feelings as a type of pain (seperation).
As Mahaprabhu was feeling this seperation I have heard that his close servitors used to help ease his pain, by reading choice slokas to him.
When Mahaprabhu's pain was eased by his intimate servitors words, what feelings would he have felt then?
What name is given to this state? Is it still seperation, or union, or something else? All such topics are wonderful and sacred.
I know seperation, as explained by the acarya's is a very high concept. And the seperation I feel from God is probably more like not being able to gratify with a sense object. Very material. But living in this material world, being so fallen from the presence of God, seems to be the perfect place to feel seperation and nurture such sentiments toward God.
This material type of seperation is intense enough. So who can imagine the seperation Mahaprabhu felt, in pure love of God. Something to be held way above our heads for sure.
