† Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Yes, that is the right quote. Lord Nityananda instructs Shrila Jiva Goswami is Shri Navadvipa Dhama Mahatmya Chp 18 Verses 18-24:
sadhu sange dainyadi guna jare haya
sei jiva dasya rase gauranga bhajaya
"When a soul develops divine qualities of humility etc. in the association of advanced devotees, the soul begins worshiping Lord Gauranga in the mood of a servant."
daasya rasa paraakaastaa gauranga bhajane,
mahaprabhu shri gauranga balena sadhu jane.
"The divine mellow of being a servant is the highest mood in the worship of Lord Gauranga. This is why the Lord is addressed as Mahaprabhu Shri Gauranga by all His learned devotees."
madhura premete jara haya adhikara,
radha-krishna rupe gaura bhajana tahara
"In this way those who become qualified to worship the Lord in the mood of a lover by serving Lord Gauranga in the mood of a servant, will worship Lord Gauranga in His divine forms of Shri Shri Radha Krishna not in His form of Lord Gauranga."
radha krishna aikya mora shri gauranga raya
yugala rasa aikya svatah nahi bhaya
"Though Lord Shri Gauranga in the combined form of Shri Shri Radha Krishna, Lord Gauranga's mood is not to reciprocate with souls as a conjugal lover like Lord Krishna."
Comment by Swami Gaurangapada: Some eternal nitya-siddha associates of Lord Gauranga like His eternal consorts Shrimati Vishnupriya devi and Shrimati Lakshmipriya devi have a conjugal relationship with Lord Gauranga but for sadhaka and sadhana-siddha associates of Lord Gauranga, servitorship is the higest mellow in which they can serve Lord Gauranga.
dasya paripakve jabe jivera hridaye
shri madhura rasa ude murtiman haye
"When the mood of a servant towards Lord Gauranga matures and fructifies in the heart of a soul by chanting His Holy Names, the divine conjugal mellow for Shri Shri Radha Krishna manifests in the personified form."
sei samaya bhajaniya tattva gaurahari
radha krishna rupe haya vraje avatari
"At the moment, the most worshipable Absolute Truth Lord Gaurahari turns into the divine forms of Shri Shri Radha Krishna in Shri Vrindavana Dhama, the source of all incarnations."
nitya-lila rase sei bhakta ke dubaya
radha-krishna nitya-lila vrajadhama paya
"At the time, the devotee drowns in the divine mellows of the eternal eight-fold pastimes of Shri Shri Radha Krishna and attains the supreme abode of Shri Vrindavana Dhama."

A question regarding worship of Lord Gauranga has arisen after reading this very interesting and important article...
What about the worship of Shri Shri Gaura-Gadadhara? Is it not like an analogy to the worship of Shri Shri Radha-Krishna in their mellow of madhurya rasa? If not, where are the differences between the worship of Radha-Krishna and Gaura-Gadadhara?

† Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Worship of Shri Shri Gaura Gadadhara also follows the same principle. One has to worship Them in dasya rasa (mood of a servant). When the worship becomes fully mature, They will manifest Their forms of Shri Shri Radha Krishna which are non-different from Them and then the devotee can connect with madhurya or mood of a lover with Shri Shri Radha Krishna. But at no stage, should a sadhaka devotee try to artificially worship Shri Shri Gaura Gadadhara in conjugal love. In the eternal Goloka, also our position will be of neutrality (shanta) or servitorship (dasya) in Lord Gauranga's Pastimes and any of the five relationships (neutrality, servitorship, fraternity, parenthood or conjugal) in Lord Krishna's pastimes.

What about an element of vatsalya rasa. Shrila Bhaktivinoda Thakura says that dasya rasa paraakashtaa gauranga bhajane...meaning that mood a servant is the summit in the worship of Lord Gauranga. All the great asociates in Lord Krishna's pastimes who are in different mellows have become servants of Lords Nityananda Gauranga in dasya rasa in Lord Gauranga's pastimes. So one can have some feelings of parental love for Lords Nityananda Gauranga, but they should be secondary to and be accompanied by the primary mood of dasya rasa or the mood of being a servant of Lords Nityananda Gauranga.
