Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna!
I must say that I was extremely shocked that someone could have the audacity to implore that Swami Gaurangapada has only become a spiritual master for name and fame. One only has to listen to his spiritual lectures one time to understand that he hasn't even a trace of the material modes upon his person.
His mind is entirely self controlled and always trancendentally engaged in devotional service. With absolutely no effort one can surely understand the genuine intentions of this great soul. For anyone with a little sincerity it is simple to understand that Swami Gaurangapada has the deepest heartfelt compassion for all souls. It pains him to see the suffering of others and that is why he is takes so much of his valuable time to answer numerous questions, and to add ever fresh material to his website. He does it for our benefit because he cares, not for name and fame, to suggest this is a dangerous absurdity.
He is doing the topmost welfare work for all living entities by distributing the names and pastimes of the most merciful Lord Nityananda and Lord Gauranga. Do we not understand how important Lord Nityananda and Lord Gauranga are to us souls who are drenched in suffering in this material world? Will we ever be able to understand the intensity and duration of suffering that we escaped due to Swami Gaurangapada instructing us on the glories of Lord Nityananda and Lord Gauranga and imploring us to chant Their names and hear Their pastimes? Can we ever repay him for incessantly telling us the importance of Lord Nityananda and his holy
Could we not go on and on for eternity describing the importance of what Swami Gaurangapada is doing in instructing us about Lord Nityananda and Lord Gauranga?
I am fool and lower than a worm, and I can't do anything right but maybe even I have a chance of becoming an eternal associate of Lord Nityananda and Lord Gauranga because of Swami Gaurangapada. Otherwise I will only rot in the hell that is this material world forever and ever.
Aspiring for the dust of Swami Gaurangapada's and all actual Vaishnavas lotus feet, in hope that I may oneday become one.

†††† Answer by Swami Gaurangapada:
If I wanted, I would have got many times more name, fame, popularity and following on the internet and preaching etc. and offers to travel all over the world if I was preaching only the chanting of the Hare Krishna Mahamantra.††
†Though I have established that the Nityananda (Haladhara Balarama) and Gauranga (Gaura Gopala) Mantrarajas have been chanted by the previous Acharyas and Diksha has been also given by them and it is Lord Nityananda's eternal order to all souls to chant the Holy Name of Gauranga constantly, still some will keep on saying that is an invention because of not reading the scriptural statements or conveniently ignoring them. Infact I have voluntarily chosen a difficult and uphill path of spreading Holy Names of Nityananda and Gauranga which will even be opposed by some devotees of Shri Shri Radha Krishna. In fact my spreading the Holy Names of Nityananda and Gauranga is the reason for my infamy among some who are unaware of the supreme glories of Nityananda Gauranga Nama. So why would I do that if I wanted name and fame or to gather easy following?
It is only due my intense love for the Holy Names of Nityananda and Gauranga and the inspiration and instruction of my own Shrila Gurudeva, the Acharyas and Lord Nityananda, that I am humbly trying to engage in this sublime and challenging mission of spreading the Holy Names of Nityananda and Gauranga along with the the Hare Krishna Mahamantra. When I started to preach the Holy Names of Nityananda and Gauranga, due to the causeless mercy of the Seventh Goswami Shrila Saccidananda Bhaktivinoda Thakura, I was mentally prepared to keep on preaching even if no soul in this world accepts These most merciful Holy Names of Kali Yuga or even if devotees of Lord Krishna reject my teachings in this regard. Why would I go to such lengths and take such heavy risks if I wanted some cheap name, fame and following? To make even one soul chant Nityananda Gauranga Nama daily or even once is the biggest social welfare work for humanity.
I impart Ashraya Diksha in the Nityananda and Gauranga Mantrarajas not because of a desire to increase following but due to the inspiration from the Acharyas and due to my intense desires to introduce those unfortunate and offensive souls to Bhakti who would never become qualified to chant or even know about the Hare Krishna Mahamantra in this life. The very fact that chanting the Holy Names of Nityananda and Gauranga even once destroys all sins from the past unlimited lives and forces the pure love of Lord Gauranga-Krishna to search after that soul is the basis of Nityananda Gauranga Nama Ashraya Diksha not a cheap desire to accumulate followers.
And if accumulating money was my purpose for this, then I would have made some fund-raising scheme or commercial arrangement on our website long time back. I never expect or charge anything for giving Initiation in Holy Names of Nityananda, Gauranga and Hare Krishna. I only expect that my disciples daily vibrate these Holy Names with their tongues and save themselves from the clutches of the cycle of birth and death.
I also gave up name, fame and position in ISKCON just to spread the Holy Names of Nityananda and Gauranga when I read Shri Navadvipa Dhama Mahatmya of Shrila Bhaktivinoda Thakura in Shri Navadvipa Dhama because I consider it highly insigficant. After I voluntarily resigned from BBT and ISKCON, I was offered to become the General Manager of the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust Mumbai, which is a quite powerful position in ISKCON. BBT Mumbai is one of the biggest BBT in the whole world. I was the BBT Production Manager and Asst General Manager for around 5 years and during my tenure Shrila Prabhupada's book distribution almost tripled due to beautiful book covers, lot of new translations and publications in 8 languages, and a massive reduction in book prices.
During that time, I was rated as one of the top speakers on Sony TV while speaking for the ISKCON Atma serial with a viewership of millions in Asia and Europe and used to receive hundreds of snail mail letters monthly. I was one of the most popular lecturers in ISKCON Juhu and used to give almost around 20 discourses in a week including the morning Bhagavatam lectures, evening Gita lectures, Sunday Bhaktivedanta College Lectures, Friday and Saturday Youth Preaching Lectures, House Programs, Brahmachari Ashram lectures, Lectures to New Bhaktas, Lecture to Sankirtana devotees, and so on. Many devotees would consult and take advice from me on spiritual matters. Why would I give up such a comfortable situation with bright future prospects which was clearly a much easier way to attain name, fame, following and money if that was my purpose in the first place?
Ok, someone may say, I did it to become Sannyasi and Guru. But my question is who wants to become a sannyasi nowadays? Sannyasa is most difficult in the present age and is not even known, what to speak of respected nowadays in India, again what to speak of the Western countries. People in Western world and in India too nowadays have started looking down on sannyasis in a big way as so many bogus people and mayavadis have put on the garb of sannyasis to cheat the people.
There is no name and fame for becoming a Sannyasi outside out of an institution. If someone may become a Sannyasi inside an institution which has a lot of followers and facilities then there is a chance of easily getting some name, fame and resources. But to become a Sannyasi by standing alone and trying to spread the hithero unknown Holy Names of Nityananda and Gauranga in this world is surely not the most comfortable way to get name and fame.
About accepting the position of Guru on the order my Gurudeva is also not an easy proposition. The Guru has to be a constant servant of his disciples, constantly guiding the instructing them on the spiritual path and taking their sins and karmic reactions. Again if I wanted to become a popular Guru amongst Gaudiya Vaishnavas, I would have preached only the Hare Krishna Mahamantra and would have got much more following. Neither have I embarked on this mission for a petty desire to travel around the world which is proven by the fact that I have accepted permanent shelter and residence in Shri Jagannatha Puri Dhama and am normally quite reluctant to leave the Dhama.
And the last thing, I would like to address is the thought that may arise in someone's mind that since chanting of the Holy Names of Nityananda and Gauranga is a unique thing, I wanted to become popular and famous as someone who has revealed a new and unique thing. This is absolutely incorrect.
If I had such a desire, I would have copyrighted all my writings, translations and compilations about the glories of chanting the Nityananda and Gauranga Mantrarajas in order to maintain such a position. Down the line, if many take up this mission of spreading the Holy Names of Nityananda and Gauranga along with the Hare Krishna Mahamantra by reading and understanding my writings, but do not give me any credit, I will be still be happy that they are spreading Holy Names of Nityananda and Gauranga and giving this most rare and precious treasure to many other souls.
Also from the very beginning, I myself have given all credit to Shrila Sacchidananda Bhaktivinoda Thakura for revealing the glories of the Holy Names of Nityananda and Gauranga to this world and have established the Supreme Lord Nityananda Prabhu as the founder and originator of the divine mission to spread the Holy Name of Lord Gauranga in the whole of creation. I have never claimed credit for anything. I only consider myself a most insignificant and fortunate servant of Shrila Bhaktivinoda Thakura and Lord Nityananda for getting a chance to spread Their instructions about Nityananda Gauranga Nama in this world.
