Gurudeva,please accept my humble obiesances at the dust of your lotus feet
Dandavats at the lotus feet of all devotees
In Navadvipa Dhama Mahatmya by Shrila Bhaktivinoda Thakura
Lord Nityananda instructs Shrila Jiva Gosvami regarding Sambandha to Lord Gauranga.
"This topic of sambandha is a deep thing, O son of Vallabha, a treasure that the conditioned souls cannot easily understand. Even if one calls out the name of Shri Krishna Caitanya with seeming affection, if that relationship is not established in his heart, he simply remains in the material realm. Such a person resides on top of the dh鋗a's illusory covering and never attains pure bhakti. That person is the dharmadhvaji, or hypocritically devout, who is especially duplicitous, who has no humility and is full of pride, yet still thinks he is fully qualified.
"By the devotees' mercy, even such a person can give up his pride and perform devotional activities. One should think himself lower than a blade of grass and more tolerant than a tree. He should not desire respect for himself but should expertly offer respect to others. When one possesses these four qualities and sings the glories of Lord Krishna, his relationship with Shri Caitanya manifests within his heart."
Being a conditioned soul i cannot actually understand this topic.
Lord Nityananda mercifully tells the technique to achieve sambandha.
But how to actually obtain the mercy of devotees?Furthur Lord Nityananda Avadhuta instructs us that one should have humility and then sing the Glories of Lord Krishna to obtain the trasure of sambandha with Lord Gauranga.
But Lord Nityananda always instructs everyone to sing Glories of Lord Gauranga.He Humself is continously inundated with topmost devotion of Lord Gauranga.
I am little confused as I felt that chanting Nityananda Gauranga, and hearing/reading Thier Glories,pastimes will produce sambandha with Them.Also I read that no qualification(humility etc) is required for chanting Nityananda Gauranga.
Shrila Vrindavana dasa Thakura says
abhimana duranta tathi na pai krishna rati
iha jani nityananda karaha bhakati
False ego makes people devoid of attachment to Sri Krishna. Knowing this, worship Lord Nityananda.
from this i concluded that humility is not required for establising relationship with Lord Nityananda as He is very very merciful.
furhtur Lord Gauranga says that anyone who has faith and devotion in Lord Nityananda,He also faith and devotion for Me.
so i concluded if one worships Lord Nityananda by chanting His Name,and reading/hearing His pastimes then certainly such a fortunate devotee will get evrything.so eventually i concluded that humility is not required beacuse due to the mercy of Lord Nityananda even the most fallen soul can easily achieve Lords Nitai-Gauranga's Lotus feet
The instructions of Lord Nityananda are The Supreme Absolute truth.Since I am unfortunate i cannot really understand Them. Please explain.
Aspiring to be a humble servant of your lotus feet
Bhushan Nityananda dasa.
Answer by Swami Gaurangapada:
Seeming affection here means that one may call out the Holy Name of Lord Gauranga but have no faith in Lord Nityananda, the Pancha Tattva, Associates and all devotees of Lords Nityananda Gauranga. Then such a soul cannot get the full benefit of Lord Gauranga's mercy because of no sambandha.
You are absolutely right that the one and only way for the conditioned souls to develop actual sambandha or relationship with Lord Gauranga and Shri Shri Radha Krishna is by chanting Lord Nityananda's Holy Name and immersing oneself in His glorious and most magnanimous pastimes by hearing about them and reading them. This is the sambandha by which we should approach Lord Gauranga's Holy Name and the the Hare Krishna Mahamantra then one will penetrate through the material film of Maya which is covering the confidential secrets by the order of Lord Nityananda.
That is why Shrila Narottama Dasa Thakura sings:
se sambandha nahi jaara, vritha janma gelo taara
se pashu bado duraachaara
"The life of one who has no connection (sambandha) with Lord Nityananda by chanting His Name (nitai na bolilo mukhe) is a total waste just like the life of an animal because an animal also cannot call out 'Nityananda'."
Dear Swami Gaurangapada Gurudeva,
Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna!
Please accept my humble obeisances at Your Lotus Feet.
In this connection I would like to add following verse from Shri Navadvipa Dhama Mahatmya (chapter 2) into this thread:
"The devas, rsis, and Rudras always reside in different parts of Navadvipa. Although they are engaged in austerities for a long time, still they do not get Nityananda's mercy. As long as bodily consciousness is not given up and humility does not awaken within, one cannot obtain the treasure of Shri Chaitanya's and Shri Nityananda's mercy, no matter what effort one makes, even if he be Shiva or Brahma."
If You could please give light to this verses and especially to the highlighted sentence above.
Thank You very much.
Answer by Swami Gaurangapada:
Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! The verses which you have quoted are as follows:
adhikara buddhi mora kabe habe kshaya
shuddha dasa haya pabe gaura padashraya
chira kala tapa kari jivana kataya;
tabu nityananda kripa se sabe na paya.
deva buddhi yata dina nahi jaya dure;
yata dina dainya bhava mane nahi sphure.
tata dina shri gaura nitai kripa dhana;
brahma shiva nahi paya kariya yatana.
Here it is deva buddhi not deha buddhi as the English translation says. So it basically means that even though one may not have overcome the bodily consciousness but if one is in a genuinely humble mood feeling oneself unqualified while doing Nityananda Gauranga Naam and Lila Bhajan then one will attain the mercy of Lord Nityananda. The first verse states that unfortunately a few demigods etc. who were doing tapasya or austerities in Navadvipa Dhaam could not attain the mercy of Lord Nityananda because they were egotistically thinking themselves qualified (adhikara buddhi) to attain the mercy. Also it is not clear what austerities they did in Navadvipa Dhaam ie. whether they chanted the Holy Name of Nityananda or not?
So the fact is there that one has to cultivate the mood of humility meaning feeling oneself unqualified for the mercy and begging for it with every Name, while chanting the Holy Names of Nityananda and Gauranga, then one will surely attain success in chanting even though we may be full of offenses. More than our pure or impure state, Lords Nityananda Gauranga consider our humble state of mind in giving Their mercy as exhibited by Lord Gauranga in the pastime of the brahmachari who used to onyl drink milk for 20 years.
