Title: Offering to my deities in
Caturmasya
User: Swami Gaurangapada Date: 2007-03-12 15:46:15
Dear Swami Gaurangapada
Nityananda Gauranga Hare
Krishna
dandavats
I read that Sak was much
favoured by Lord Caitanya, and that it was served to Him during His travels
through Jarikhanda forest and also that Bhaktivinode Thakur said that
"By honoring sak, a great favorite of Lord Caitanya抯, I consider life worthwhile."
I was wondering whether during the months of Caturmasya, even
though we should not take sak ourselves, is it still ok to prepare for the Lord
and his devotees like Bhaktivinode and offer it to them, as long as we
ourselves do not eat the remnants, or will Lord Chaitanya and Bhaktivinode
Thakur also be following the regulations of Caturmasya in the spiritual world
and hence not accept such an offering during these months?

Answer by Swami Gaurangapada:
Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! One can surely offer shak or
leafy vegetables to the Lord and His pure devotees in the aprakata
(unmanifested) pastimes in all four months of Chaturmasya. In Chaturmasya, we
do not eat leafy vegetables only for the first month.
