Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krsna!
Dear Swami Gaurangapada,
please accept my humble obiesances.
Last week I was given a smooth thumb sized oval shape stone which is apparently a Linga from the Narmada River in India.
Could you please share a little about the Narmada River and this Linga, and how I should receive it into my home and spiritual practice. Thanks, Nava Gauranga dasa.
Answer by Swami Gaurangapada:
Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Thankyou for your question. As per the Puranas, stones from only the Gandaki river in Nepal are Shaligrama Shilas, which are non-different than the Lord and should be worshiped like the Lord without any installation. Though the river Narmada is worshipable, as per my knowledge, stones from no other river in the world are authorized to worshiped as the Lord by our Vedic scriptures. I hope you are doing well.
