Q. By Shachinandana dasa
"A child born in
the house of a thief, will naturally be a thief, but how to catch this
thief?"
When Lord Advaita Acharya
speaks in this way, it has many meanings. One of the meanings is:
"O Lord
Nityananda, You are the biggest thief in creation because you immediately steal
my mind with the beauty of Your golden bodily form and Your ecstatic symptoms
of love. And in the same way, your divine son Virabhadra also steals my mind
with His enchanting form just like His father. So He is also a thief."
A son of a thief is
trained from childhood how to steal so he is even more difficult to catch than
his father. Similarly Virbhadra has been taught by His divine father Lord
Nityananda how to steal and enchant the hearts of all the souls by His great
devotion and mercy so it has become to catch Him now.
swamiji, would this be
saying that by chanting and glorifying virachandra one can please nityananda
and thus attain his mercy?
Ofcourse. Glorifying and
worshiping the Associates of Lord Nityananda is the best and easiest way to get
His mercy. There is a saying in English: "I can only believe that you
love me, if you love my dog first."
Shrila Virabhadra Goswami
is the one who propogated the chanting Nityananda Gauranga Nama widely all over
Bengal and emphasized that Gauranga Kirtana is means to please Lord Nityananda.
If you notice there is
beautiful combination here in this pastime. Lord Mula Sankarshana is present as
Lord Nityananda, Lord Mahavishnu is present as Lord Advaita Acharya and Lord
Kshirodakashayi Vishnu is present as Lord Virabhadra Goswami.
Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare
Krishna!
