Sri Caitanya bhagavata
Ch17 : The Supreme Personality of Godhead Narayana, the Supreme instructing
spiritual master of everyone, accepted initiation from Sripada Puri, with an
initiation mantra consisting of ten syllables.
What was the initiation
mantra the Lord received from Sripada Puri?
Answer by Swami
Gaurangapada:
It was the ten-syllable Gopala
Mantra:
gopijanavallabhaaya
svaahaa
go-pi-ja-na-va-ll-bhaa-ya-svaa-haa
are the ten syllables.
This ten-syllable Gopala
Mantra is a part of the eighteen-syllable Gopala Mantra glorified in the Gopala
Tapani Upanishad and the Hari Bhakti Vilasa and one of the seven Mantras
imparted at the time the Gayatri Diksha in our Vinoda Sarasvata Parampara:
klim krishnaya govindaya
gopijana vallabhaya svaha.
