The Secret of Action From Illusion to Reality
Verse for Chapter
kim harma kim akarmeti kavayo apy atra mohitah .
tat te karma pravakshyami yaj jnatva mokshyase 'shuhhat
"Even the intelligent are bewildered in determining what is action and what is inaction. Now I shall explain to you what action is, knowing which you shall be liberated from all misfortune." (Bhagavad-gita 4.16)
"Why do bad things happen to good people?" This question has perplexed theologians and people in general throughout the ages. The Vedas provide a profound answer to this question by explaining the law of karma as an infallible, divine form of justice that extends over several lifetimes. This chapter dispels some of the common misconceptions about spiritual life and also includes a historical narrative that illustrates how the consciousness in which we live and act determines our next life. Also given is both a philosophical and practical understanding of the secret of action that disentangles us from the material world, enables us to do the highest good to others and simultaneously helps us to return back home, back to Godhead, thus ending our long secret journey.
