4. The time scales in nature
According to the vedantic view, the current age of the universe is about 155.522 trillion (155.522xl012) years and the remaining life is 155.518 trillion (155.518xl012) years after which this universe gets dissolved . While the cosmologists state that the age of the universe is (13-15xl09) years . Thus there is a great difference in the time scale of duration of existence of the universe. After every 4.32 billion years, there is a partial annihilation wherein the planetary systems are unmanifest; Sun is no more there and darkness prevails throughout the universe for another 4.32 billion years which constitutes the night of lord Brahma. Brahma lives for one hundred years according to the time scale of his planetary system which spans a period of 314 trillion years according to the time scale of Earth. In the flow of time just as clouds in the sky come into being and are then dispersed by the amalgamation and dissolution of their constituent elements, this material universe is created and destroyed within the Absolute Truth by the amalgamation and dissolution of its elemental constituent parts . The Vedantic view about the Theory of Everything is based on the following three verses of the Bhagavad-gita 7.4-6:
bhumirapo 'nab vayuh klwh mono buddhiremca
apareyam itas tv am/can pmkrtim viddhi me param
jwa-bhutmh maha-bahoyayedam dharyatejagat
etad-yonini bhutani sarmnity upadharaya aham krtswsyajagatah prabhavah pralayas tatha
Translation: "Earth, water, fire, air, ether, mind, intelligence and false ego - all together these eight constitute My separated material energies. Besides these, O mighty-armed Arjuna, there is another, superior energy of Mine, which comprises the living entities who are exploiting the resources of this material, inferior nature. All created beings have their source in these two natures. Of all that is material and all that is spiritual in this world, know for certain that I am both the origin and the dissolution ."
The Supreme Being or God is conscious of everything in the universe whereas the living entities are conscious of only themselves. The fundamental qualities of the spiritual particle, spiriton or atman, are free will, intention, purpose and consciousness. According toVedanta, consciousness is a fundamental quality of the spiriton. Thus consciousness is purely spiritual and transcendental to matter. There are two types of consciousness - universal and individual. The Supreme Being or God is conscious of everything in the universe whereas the living entities are conscious of only themselves. The way matter has been defined in vedic literatures may very easily provide the solution for the wave particle duality and the non locality phenomenon if proper research interest gets generated in this area. To add further, vedic universe description shows non-linearity of space, contrary to the present view of linear nature of the universe. Vedic literatures also mention the presence of nascent matter that is arive gross elements in Free State and therefore present a very complex situation .
Similarly, the idea of relativity has a big place in vedic cosmology. Life of e°ple on different planetary systems is assumed to be 100 years. For example, as earlier mentioned, Brahma lives for 100 years which corresponds to 314 ion years on Earth hence an enormous time span when we compare with that arth. There are many stories in vedic literatures which point to the relative
^re of space-time.Sri e concmcung anything further, description of two very short stories from "hagavat Purana will bring a great insight into the nature of time and ISO the universe in which we live and such weird imagination certainly can not be a product of primitive brain. The first story is given below.
