5.1 Religion: An obstacle to God?
In the academic world, I have seen competition among Professors for good students. But students of different Professors and the Professors themselves do not shun each other like in the religion world. I am not sure if there is more spirituality inside the religion-groups than in the academic world. There seems to be more rationality in the latter. There is an increasing body of thinkers in the world who feel that religion as it is often practiced may indeed be an obstacle on the path to The Supreme. They are talking of 'God without religion', echoing the words of Krishna in the Bhagvad Gita 18.66: "Leaving all varieties of Religion aside, take shelter in The Divine alone. All your sins will be forgiven. Do not worry."
