Shri Chaitanya Caritamrita
Shri Chaitanya-charitamrita Adi-lila 7.83,73 state:
krishna-nama-maha-mantrera ei ta’ svabhava;
yei jape, tara krishne upajaye bhava.
‘It is the nature of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra that anyone who chants it immediately arouses his dormant loving ecstasy for Krishna.'
krishna-mantra haite habe samsara-mocana;
krishna-nama haite pabe krishnera carana.
“Simply by chanting the holy name of Krishna one can obtain freedom from material existence. Indeed, simply by chanting the Hare Krishna mantra one will be able to see the lotus feet of the Lord."
Shri Chaitanya-charitamrita Antya-lila 9.56,57 state:
se kahe-“vaninatha nirbhaye laya krishna-nama;
‘hare krishna, hare krishna’ kahe avishrama.
The messenger replied to Lord Gauranga, “He (Vaninatha Pattanayaka) was fearlessly, and incessantly chanting the maha-mantra-Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.
sankhya lagi’ dui-hate angulite lekha;
sahasradi purna haile, ange kate rekha”
“He counted the chants on the fingers of both hands, and after he had finished chanting one thousand times, he would make a mark on his body.”
