mora bandhuya gaura-guna-nidhiya

My dearest friend, Lord Gauranga, You are an ocean of transcendental qualities.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

Gauranga, the ocean of transcendental qualities is my only bandhu, or friend in this world and my only well wisher Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura Prabhupada in the commentary states hat bandhu is a very affectionate word, it exhibits the affection of the devotee towards the Lord. The Lord is not only a dictator for the devotees, but the Lord is a bandhu, a friend. Because he is guna nidhiya, he is the oceaan of divine qualities, that is a true friend. There are so many friends, we have so many friends in this world, but they need not necessarily guide us in the right direction, but because Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu is guna nidhiya (an ocean of divine qualities), he is our real friend, who always desires our welfare.

1) jaya jaya mahaprabhu shri-gaurasundara, jaya jaya nityananda anadi-ishvara ..1..

All glory to You and all glory to Lord Nityananda Prabhu, the Supreme Personality without beginning or end.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

Lord Nityananda is anadi-ishvara : This is a very beautiful word used by Vrndavan das. Vrndavan das, he uses every word in Shri Chaitanya Bhagavata to glorify Lord Nityananda as much as he can and that desire and that kind of preaching of Vrndavan dasa is very effective to the conditioned souls. because he is always stressing the mercy of Lord Nityananda Prabhu. Anadi-ishvara, anadi means one which has no beginning adi, no adi, no beginning, so Lord Nityananda Prabhu is the supreme controller, the supreme enjoyer and the origin of even anadi. Anadi means the origin of those things who have no origin, so that is his glory.

2) henamate prabhu shridharere vara diya, 'nada nada nada' bale mastaka dhulaiya ..2..

After bestowing boons to Shridhara, Lord Gauranga began to gently sway His head, and repeated the name "Nada, Nada, Nada."

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada::

So in that way the Lord awarded benediction to Shridhara Kholavecha and then the Lord started rolling his head and saying "Nada, Nada, Nada", calling out Advaita Acharya. Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya in his Sarvabhauma Shataka, he says that the Holy Names of the pure devotees of the Lord, are even more powerful than the Holy Names of the Lord himself. Why? Because the whole world is chanting the Lord's name, but here the Lord is chanting Advaita's name. "Nada, Nada, Nada" please come here Advaita Acharya and he is not only chanting the name, but he is experiencing great bliss, he is rolling his head by remembering His pure devotee.

3) prabhu bale,-"acaryya ! magaha nija karya", "ye magilun, ta' pailun" balaye acarya ..3..

He then spoke to Advaita Acarya, "Acarya! Ask what you need." The Acarya replied, "My prayers have already been answered, my Lord."

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

The Lord said "Oh Acharya, ask for what you want, for what you desire." Advaita Acharya replied, "ye magi lun, ta' pailun" "Already I have received what I have asked for my Dear Lord." Acharya said, so do you know what is this thing that he has already asked for and he has already received? Yes, Advaita Acharya already asked for the advent of Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu in this world. In Chaitanya Bhagavata, Advaita Acharya at one point became so angry that he said that "I will manifest My four hands of Maha-Vishnu with disc, club, conch and lotus and I wil kill all these atheistic people in Kali Yuga if Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu doesn't come to save them because they are causing so much distress to the devotees. If Krishna doesn't come in this Kali Yuga and deliver them, because they are criticizing and offending the devotees, I will destroy them. So he said, "I will bound and force Lord Krishna to come in Kali Yuga, that is the reason for my advent." Advaita Acharya is Maha Vishnu himself and he has come in this world just to call the Lord here and exhibit his pastimes in the association of the Lord.

4) hunkara karaye jagannathera nandana, hena sakti nahi karo valite vacana ..4..

Lord Gauranga appreciated this answer with a thunderous roar that drowned all other sound.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

Lord Gauranga asked Advaita Acharya to ask for something, but Advaita is saying, "I already asked for it". That means that Advaita Acharya is selfless. He doesnt want to ask anything for himself. Here the Lord is saying, "You ask anything you want". But Advaita didnt want anything for himself, he wanted only for the deliverance of the whole world, he wanted the Lord to incarnate. That is why Bhaktivinoda Thakura says that "para dukhi dukhi" "The quality of the Vaishnava is that always the Vaishnava is sad when he sees the miseries of the conditioned souls. Even Vasudeva Dutta, the incarnation of Prahlada in Gauranga Lila, he cried to the Lord in Puri and said "My Dear Lord, I cannot tolerate these conditioned souls, who are transmigrating in these 8.4 million species of life. To see their pain is totally intolerable to me. Throughout the day we see so many trees, we see so many cows, we see so many dogs and animals, but we dont feel anything, but an advanced devotee, he is crying in the heart, he is seeing the soul in all the living entities and the devotee is thinking, oh what a painful situation. On one level if the devotee is a little advanced, the devotee will think that "Oh I should not stay here and suffer, I should get out of the cycle of birth and death, I should not become a tree, I should not become a dog, I should not experience this pain, and he prays to the Lord intensely. But the even more advanced devotee, that devotee thinks, "Oh Lord, why, please, give their pain to me, let those souls go back to your kingdom of God. Why they are suffering? The dog is scratching all over the body, what pain, nobody is even concerned about that pain, what suffering is there. The cow has to eat the dirt, the tree has to stand there naked for so many years. The soul inside the tree, what kind of agony is he experiencing. So Advaita Acharya wanted the Lord to come in Kali Yuga to deliver even the inanimate objects, even the trees and the animals by Nama Sankirtana. In the Jharikhanda Jangala, in the forest where Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu went, even the animals and the trees were repeating when Lord Gauranga chanted loudly HARIBOL! Then there was an echo from the trees, but it was not actually an echo, even the trees were chanting behind the Lord, and that was their last life in this world. This incarnation of Gauranga has a very specific characteristic, that being the independent Lord, he can take back all the living entities, directly from the animal species, or directly from the tree species, like he went and he delivered the seven trees that Ramachandra had shot the arrow in the Rama Lila and left them there to prove his position to his dear devotee Sugriva. Lord Gauranga went there and embraced those trees and sent them to Vaikuntha in the same bodies. The trees themselves disappeared, so this extraordinary mercy is not shown by any other incarnation, that any species of life, he can send them back to Godhead. There was one dog in Navadwip and the dog also went directly back to Godhead. There was another dog in Puri who came with Shrila Shivananda Sena and the Lord fed him the coconut Mahaprasadam of Lord Jagannath from his own hands and that dog also was not seen the next day, he went back to the Kingdom of God. So even the animals are delivered and Krishna Dasa Kaviraja Goswami describes that Lord Gauranga delivers the whole universe, all the living entities in this world, in this universe by his incarnation. Just like Lord Krishna. Lord Rama Chandra delivered the residents of Ayodhya only and took them back to Godhead, but Krishna and Gauranga they have the characteristic that they take back all the living entities in this universe. Of course some may ask that why the universe is still populated if everyone has gone back, so Haridasa Thakura describes that it is like a criminal jail. Thousands of criminals are evacuated and released daily because of the causeless mercy of the King. The King is very merciful, the King forgives all the offenses and he releases all the criminals, but the crime rate is so high that it gets instantly filled again with new criminals. Similarly the souls, who are misusing their independence, they are coming from the tatastha line, the brahmajyoti, they are constantly populating the universe and the pure devotee is always asking for their deliverance. Lord Gauranga who roared so loudly that no devotee had the courage to even speak before him because he was roaring loudly in bliss.

5) mahaparakasa prabhu visvambhara raya, gadadhara yogaya tambula, prabha khaya

While Lord Gauranga was still manifesting His "Mahaprakasha" lila in the mood of the omnipotent, Supremely Opulent Lord, Gadadhara Pandita prepared betel and offered it to the Lord. The Lord took it and ate it.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

So Mahaparakasa lila, the Lord was exhibiting what is known as mahaprakasa because in this pastime the Lord was fulfilling all the desires, of all the devotees, of all his incarnations. Murari Gupta, Hanuman, the Lord fulfilled his desire also, Ananta Acharya, Ramanajacharya avatara in Gauranga's lila, the Lord showed the Lakshmi Narayana svarupa to him. So, Gadhadara Yogaya tambula prabhu khaya. Gadhadhara, Shri Radha herself. Gadhadara was making tambula betel nuts for the lord and the Lord was chewing them with great relish.

6) dharani-dharendra nityananda dhare chatra, sammukhe advaita-adi saba mahapatra ..6..

Lord Nityananda, whose partial expansion, Lord Ananta Sesa, is the support of the universe, now held an umbrella over Lord Gauranga. Advaita Acarya and other great personages stood before Him.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

Dharani! Dharani-Dharendra, is a beautiful name of Lord Nityananda. Dharani-Dharendra means one who upholds the whole universe on just one of his millions of hoods. Dharani-Dharendra just like Ananta Sesa is a partial expansion of Lord Nityananda and one universe is like one small mustard seed in one of the thousands and millions of heads of Lord Sesa who is an expansion of Lord Nityananda Prabhu. So Lord Nityananda Prabhu, who is normally holding the universe on his head when in Gauranga Lila he holds the Chatra, and the umbrella on the head of Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu. That is his transcendental service because by performing that service he can always stay close to the Lord. And Advaita Acharya and other devotees were standing in front of the Lord, they were mahapatra, mahapatra means they were the recipients of great mercy of the Lord.

7) murarire ajna haila,-"mora rupa dekha”, murari dekhaye raghunatha parateka

The Lord ordered Murari, "Look at Me", and Murari saw Lord Ramacandra in person.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

The Lord turned to Shrila Murari Gupta, one of his dearmost devotees and he ordered "ajna haila" , he ordered, see, the Lord is so merciful, what did he order Murari, he told him, "Murari, see my form, you have darshan "mora rupa dekha", see my transcendental form and when Murari saw the Lord in front of him, that same golden form of Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu, he turned into Lord Raghunatha, Lord Ramacandra. Parateka, the Lord personified displayed his form. Because all incarnations of the Lord are present in this holy form of Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu, he is the culmination of all incarnations, that is why he can show this form at his desire at his will, he can show them to the devotees.

8) durva dala syama dekhe sei visvambhara, virasane vasiyache mahadhanurddhara

He saw that Visvambhara, Lord Gauranga, was sitting on the kingly throne with a bow, and His complexion was green like freshly tended grass shoots.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

Lord Visvambhara, the upholder of the whole universe Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu he turned into, from golden into greenish . What beautiful darshan this is! It is like the durva grass mixed with some little blackish, syama, greenish, with a tinge of a little black. That kind of form was manifested by lord Gauranga and he was sitting in Virasa (cross legs), Lord Ramachandra, virasane vasiyache mahadhanurddhara, he is the greatest carrier of the bow and the arrow and the most powerful archer.

9) janaki-lakshmana dekhe vamete dakshine, caudike karaye stuti vanarendra gane ..9..

He saw Janaki devi or Sita devi, and Laksmana on His left, and all around the brave monkey leaders were offering prayers.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

Murari Gupta saw Sita Devi and Lakshmana on the Lords left and the right. Sita was on the left Lakshmana was on the right, just like Nitai is on the left and Gadadhara is on the right. So "caudike karaye stuti vanarendra gane" and the monkeys, the great monkey devotees they were doing offering, brilliant prayers to the Lord in all the four directions. In Brihad Bhagavatam, by Sanatana Goswami it is described that how the monkey devotees in Ayodhya they are even more beautiful than the four handed vaikuntha vasis, because Ayodhya Dhama is a little higher than Vaikuntha Dhama. After Ayodhya there is Dvarka and then Mathura and then Gokula, Navadwip. So in Ayodhya the monkeys are so beautiful they are even more beautiful than the Vaikuntha Vasis and they are glorifying the Lord, the greenish Lord and their bliss is unlimited, undescribable.

10) apana prakriti vase ye hena vanara, sakrit dekhiya murccha paila vaidyavara

Murari, perceiving his identity as Hanuman, and now seeing his beloved Lord Ramacandra, fell down in an ecstatic swoon due to Lord Gauranga's transcendental pastimes.

11) murcchita haiya bhume murari padila, caitanyera phande gupta murari rahila

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

And then Murari Gupta had this brilliant realisation, which is the mercy of Lord Gauranga, that when he was seeing this whole scene, the eternal pasttimes in Ayodhya, Lord Raghunath, Sita and Lakshmana, at that time the monkeys, Murari Gupta saw that he is there as one of the monkeys, he is Hanuman and he is glorifying the Lord. And through Hanumam's form, he saw the Lord Face to face in that mood and instantly, Murari fainted, dropped on the ground, crashed to bliss on the ground. He is remembering he is a doctor , because he is a doctor by profession, because he wants to show here that how a doctor has fainted. The doctor relieves people from the disease of fainting, epilepsy etc, but here the doctor himself has fainted because the doctor has seen his constitutional position in the pastimes of the Lord. "murcchita haiya bhume murari padila caitanyera phande gupta murari rahila " Murari Gupta completely became enveloped and trapped in the bond of love of Gauranga Mahaprabhu because Gauranga mahaprabhu has given to him his eternal position in his pasttimes in Ayodhya. So Murari became greatly obliged to the Lord, very greatful to the Lord and he collapsed on the ground in trance.

12) daki' bale visvambhara,-"arere vanara, pasarili, tore podaila sita-cora .

Lord Visvambhara called out aloud, "Hey monkey, you seem to forget how the demon Ravana who stole Sita devi, burned your face.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu has this characteristic that in the Mahaprakash Lila he likes to remember services which his devotees have done for him in the different incarnations, thats how the devotees become very happy, so he is very expert in increasing the happiness of his devotees. So he said "Oh vanara" "Oh monkey" "Oh Hanuman" "Oh Murari" "Why are you fainting? You dont remember partially, you have forgotten or not that Sita-cora who kidnapped Sita, he burnt your tail" "Tore Podaila" "Burnt your face, he liked to burn you and you tolerated that in my service, dont you remember, you may have forgotten, but I remember your service to me, I never forget even a small service done for me and you were trying to return to me my eternal energy and consort Sita, how can I forget"

13) tui tara puri pudi' kaili vamsa-kshaya, sei prabhu ami, tore dila paricaya ..13..

Enraged, you set ablaze his capital, Shri Lanka, and destroyed his entire race. I am that same Lord, Your worshipful Lord. Now You are again in My presence.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

Those who are ignorant of Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu in Kali Yuga, they should read this verse. Gauranga Mahaprabhu is revealing himself, he is saying here that "Oh Hanuman, Oh Murari, you burnt the entire city of Lanka and you destroyed the whole dynasty of Ravana and you made my work easy when Icame to fight him. But for whom did you do that? You burnt the whole Lanka for the Lord and that Lord, I am. "Sei prabhu ami" I am that Lord, I am that Lord who you served nicely in the Rama Chandra's lila and "tore dila paricaya" I am giving you this identification, I am revealing myself to you, that I am your same Lord, please recognise me, please worship me. Dont delay any longer.

14) utha utha murari, amara tumi prana, ami-sei raghavendra, tumi-hanuman ..14..

Rise, rise, Murari! You are as dear to Me as My own life. I am that Lord Ramacandra. You are Hanuman.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

"utha utha murari" "Please get up and you are my life and soul and I am that same Rama Chandra and you are Hanuman, my dear devotee. Very very dear to me. You are even more dear to me than Prahlada and you are more dear to me than Lord Siva. According to Brihad Bhagavatam, more dear than Siva is Prahlada and more dear than Prahlada is Hanuman and more dear than Hanuman is the Pandavas and more dear than the Pandavas is the Yadus and more dear than the Yadus is Uddhava and more dear than Uddhava are the gopis and most dear is Shrimati Radhika. So Hanuman is a great devotee of the Lord .

15) sumitra nandana dekha tomara jivana, yare jiyaile ani' se gandhamadana ..15..

"See your Laksmana, your beloved life and soul. You saved his life by bringing the Gandharvamadana mountain.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

So here Gauranga is not only showing himself but he is showing also Lakshmana to Murari. Lakshmana is Lord Nityananda, so Gauranga is saying, "See your life and soul, Lakshmana he is also present, he is present on my right. You brought the Gandhamadana hill to revive his life,"jiyaile" you gave him life on my order. So he is here, he is here with me, please see him, have his darshana.

16) janakira carane karaha namaskara, yara duhkha tumi kandila apara ..16..

“Offer obeisances to the lotus feet of Janaki, Sitadevi, whose distress moved you to profuse tears."

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

See here Janaki, the daughter of King Janaka, Sita, and please offer obeisances to her, she is the one whom you cried for, you went to Lanka and you saw her suffering in Ashokavana and you saw the demonesses harassing her and you were crying, you were shedding tears to see the pain of my beloved, so she is here, she is here.

17) caitanyera vakye gupta chaitanya paila, dekhiya sakala preme kandite lagila ..17..

Lord Gauranga's words brought back Murari's consciousness. Upon awakening he saw that wonderful scene, and began to cry in love of Godhead.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

Upon hearing Gauranga's words Murari Gupta regained his Chaitanya, his consciousness, So this is the reason that Lord Gauranga's name is Chaitanya, or Krishna Chaitanya, Shri Krishna Chaitanya. It means that his name and his pasttimes and his form and his abode and his associates they give Chaitanya (consciousness) to the conditioned souls, who are oblivious, who have forgotten, who are actually sleeping with respect to their soul, their spiritual identity, so that Chaitanya, to revive that Chaitanya, Prabhodananda Saraswati, he confirms this statement, he says that "Achaitanyam idam vishvam, yadi Chaitanyam Ishvaram, na viduh sarva shastrajna, ye brahmyati te janah" This whole universe will remain achaitanya (dead or without any spiritual consciousness), unless and until they accept Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu as their Ishvara, Lord and Master and chant His Holy Names. They may have millions and millions of meetings and big big leaders, but their spiritual consciousness will not be awakened unless Lord Gauranga, Lord Chaitanya is known in this world and meditated on or worshipped. Murari saw this, he got consciousness back "sakala preme kandite lagila" and he began to cry. Because seeing the opulence of the Lord, seeing the pastimes of the Lord, the devotee feels so much greatful to the Lord. Cannot reciprocate with the Lord so simply to cry in love is the only blissful option.

18) sushka kashtha drave suni' guptera krandana, viseshe dravila saba bhagavatagana ..18..

Murari's ecstatic crying moved even the lifeless dry wood, what to speak of the assembled Vaishnavas.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

There is a beautiful description by Vrndavana das Thakura, he says that "suni' guptera krandana", hearing the crying of Murari Gupta, "sushka kashtha drave" dried wood will even melt. It will become liquefied by hearing this crying of Murari Gupta, its not ordinary, it is full of transcendental love and it is capable of reviving the soul of anyone who hears it. "viseshe dravila saba bhagavatagana" Especially those great devotees who had assembled there, they became fully agitated with bliss and overwhelmed with ecstasy on hearing this crying of Murari Gupta.

19) punarapi murarire bale visvambhara, "ye tomara abhimata, magi' laha vara” ..19..

Again Lord Gauranga began to speak to Murari, "You may ask Me for any boon."

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

Visvambhara again said to Murari, "Ask for any benediction you desire, Murari I am not satisfied, I want to give you something, you have done so much devotion to me. "punarapi murarire" Please I am exhibiting the Mahaprakash Lila, I am very broad hearted, devotees ask everything "ye tomara" Whatever you feel, whatever you desire, please ask for that benediction." So Murari Gupta is asking the most loveliest benediction, which the devotees can ever ask the Lord. Murari is saying...

20) murari balaye,-"prabhu, ra nahi cana, hena kara prabhu yena tora guna gana ..20..

Shri Murari replied, "My Lord, I do not want anything. Just grant me one wish: that I may sing only Your glories.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

Murari replied "Oh Lord I do not want anything, you have shown me your form of Rama Chandra, that is my full satisfaction, I never expected that you would give me so much mercy, that I have received. And my only desire is that your qualities and your glories, let me sing them, your Holy Names. Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya says in Sarvabhauma Shatak that I have read all the Puranas and have all the Vedas but I dont find any incarnation except Lord Gauranga who is capable to deliver me in Kali Yuga. So here Murari is also saying, "My dear Lord please allow me to sing your glories constantly.

21) ye-te-thani prabhu kene janma nahi mora, tathai tathai yena smriti haya tora ..21..

I may be put into any situation, but birth after birth, I simply want to remember You constantly.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

Beautiful benediction, he is saying, Murari is saying, "My dear Lord" "ye-te-thani prabhu kene janma nahi mora" "I do not care if I take birth here and there, in any species of life, "ye te thani" wherever you want to keep me, you can give me birth there because I am your unconditional slave, servant. Your part and parcel. But, please give me this benediction that "tathai tathai yena smriti haya tora" Wherever, wherever I take birth, there I remember your holy name constantly, I cant forget you even for one second."

22) janma janma tomara ye saba prabhu-dasa, ta'-sabara sange yena haya mora vasa ..22..

Life after life, I want the benediction of residence and association with all Your servitors.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

And here Murari is going further, because he knows that without pure, genuine, sadhu-sanga, the sphurti of the Lord is not possible. So he is asking further benediction, elaborating on the benediction, he is saying that "janma janma tomara ye saba prabhu-dasa" Those who are your servants life after life "ta'-sabara sange yena haya mora vasa" I want to reside with them. Always take my birth in their association because then I will have an eternal chance to always sing and hear your glories, I will not be able to forget you even for a moment. Dasa and Vasa, I want to have vasa (residence) with your dasa (servants), I want to have residence near your servants.

23) tumi prabhu, muni dasa-iha nahi yatha, hena satya kara prabhu, na pheliha tatha ..23..

"O my Lord! Please do not place me in a position where I may deviate from the Absolute Truth, and forget that You are the Supreme Lord or that I am Your eternal servant.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

Very beautiful, this is a verse which is confirmed by Rupa Goswami in Bhakti Rasmarta Sindhu Bindu. Here Murari Gupta is saying that "My dear Lord, please consider one thing, I dont want one thing specifically and that is that I dont want to ever take birth or ever be in such a situation where this relationship of you being the master and I being the servant is lost. Because all my bliss and all my satisfaction is simply in serving you, so I do not want any situation where I dont become your servant and you are not my master. I dont want anyone except you as my master." This is confirmed by Rupa Goswami and Hanuman is praying to Lord Ramachandra, the same prayer which Murari is praying here. There is a verse in Sanskrit (sings prayer) which says that Hanuman is praying to the Lord, "Oh my dear Lord please give me this one benediction, that I never ever bring that thought of mukti or liberationor becoming one with you in my mind even in my dreams. Because this mukti will destroy the whole , I hate it , I dont want it," Why? Why he doesnt want it? Because You are my prabhu and I am your servant and this relationship will be destroyed by this ideology of multi, becoming one with the Lord. It disappears. Bhaktivinoda Thakura also states that "Krishna bhakti haya antardhana" It disappears when one tries to become one with God which is demoniac philosophy. If the relation of master and servant is not there then what does the soul have to live for. There is no need for the soul's existence. So here Murari is saying the same thing, that never never test me with this desire of becoming one with you, please always keep me as your servant.

24) saparshade tumi yatha kara avatara, tathai tathai dasa haiva tomara” ..24..

"Wherever You descend, accompanied by Your eternal associates, I desire to be there as Your insignificant servitor."

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

Wherever you incarnate my dear Lord along with your associates, that place when you incarnate, advent, at that place please take me along as your servant. Saparshade---this word is very important in this verse because here Murari Gupta is praying to the Lord because he wants to become the servant of the servant. Not directly the Lords servant, because he knows that to please the Lord one has to be the servant of the servants. He is saying that you normally never incarnate alone, you always come with your associates and whenever you come with your associates I want to come there, I want to incarnate I want to also be there, its only if you desire, if you allow me, carry me with you then I can come with you in your different incarnations and serve you. Saparshade and I can serve your devotees who are intimate to you. Such beautiful benedictions Murari is asking. These are the culmination of all the Vedic scriptures. The cream and the essence of Bhakti Yoga. What the devotee aspires for or should aspire for. In the Vishnu Purana, Bhaktisddhanta Saraswati Thakura Prabhupada quotes a beautiful verse (quotes verse) which states "My dear Lord, even if I wander throughout millions of universes in billions of lives, in different species of life but may I always have unflinching devotion for your lotus feet andfor your devotees.

25) prabhu bale,-"satya satya ei vara dila”, maha-maha-jayadhvani tatakshane haila ..25..

The Lord replied, "So be it. So be it. I grant you this boon." Hearing this, a jubilant and gigantic uproar from the devotees filled the air.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

Lord Gauranga said "satya satya" I certainly grant you this benediction, this will be yours, from this moment you have this benediction and it was such a supreme benediction that all the devotees said "Maha Maha Jaya Jaya! "maha-maha-jayadhvani" The sound of Jaya Jaya Jaya resounded all over the devotees arose and they became so much in bliss .

26) murarira prati saba-vaishnavera prita, sarvabhute kripaluta-murari carita ..26..

All the Vaishnava devotees were naturally affectionately disposed to Murari who was always compassionate to all living beings.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

All the great Vaishnavas they had special affection for Murari Gupta because Murari himself was sarvabhute kripaluta. He was merciful to all living entities, He was a doctor , a herbal doctor and any soul who would come to him, he would get treatment, spiritual as well as material. He would guide them to Gauranga's lotus feet and also cure their bodily ailments for them so they could perform devotional service without obstacles.

27) ye-te-sthana murarira yadi sanga haya, sei sthana sarva tirtha-shri vaikuntha maya ..27..

Such was the purity of Murari's devotion, that his mere presence transformed anywhere into a holy place of pilgrimage, transcendental like Vaikuntha.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

These are Chaitanya Bhagavata's supreme nectarean verses where it is stated that whichever place comes into contact with Murari's association, or which Murari Gupta visits even for one second or if somebody remembers Murari in some place the glories of Murari Gupta, then that place becomes the "sarva tirtha" abode of all the Holy Places of pilgrimage and Shri Vaikuntha maya, which is non different from Vaikuntha (spiritual world) because wherever - yatha sadhu tatha vrindavana - Bhaktivinoda Thakura writes that wherever the glories of the sadhus and great devotees are described, that is actually the dhama. Shri Vaikuntha Maya, non different from Vaikuntha.

28) murarira prabhava balite sakti kara, murarira vallabha-prabhu sarva avatara ..28..

It is impossible to describe the greatness of Murari. Even the Supreme Lord advents for the pleasure of Murari.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

Who can describe the prabhava, the potency of the influence of Murari Gupta, the devotional and spiritual influence, there is no one who has the power to do it because in all the incarnations which the Lord takes, Murari always accompanies the Lord and the Lords name is Murari Vallabha, dear to Lord Murari, dear friend of Murari.

29) thakura chaitanya bale-"suna sarvajana, sakrit murari-ninda kare yeijana ..29..

30) koti gangasnane tara nahika nistara, ganga-hari-name tare kariba samhara ..30..

Lord Gauranga then declared, "All of you listen carefully. If anybody criticizes Murari, he cannot be saved even by a million dips in the Ganga. In fact, his baths in the Ganga or even chanting of Lord Hari's name will certainly destroy such a sinful wretch.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

So Lord Gauranga was not satisfied by offering that benediction to Murari Gupta, he wanted to glorify Murari Gupta further and because of this bhaktavatsalya, Lord Gauranga's incarnation is the crown of all forms of God. He wants to have five mouths to glorify the gunas, or the qualities of his devotees. Lord Gauranga says that, "Please see, please hear "sakrit murari-ninda kare yeijana" If somebody criticises Murari for even one second " koti gangasnane tara nahika nistara, ganga-hari-name tare kariba samhara " Its a very tragic consequence. Lord Gauranga says that if one critisises Murari Gupta or a devotee like him for even one moment if even if he takes bath in the Ganges for millions of births, he cannot be delivered such a person. Such a criticiser cannot be delivered and then a very strong warning Lord Gauranga is giving here, when Gauranga says that "ganga-hari-name tare kariba samhara" that the most merciful form of the Lord is the Ganga and the Holy Name in Kali Yuga and those two very things will destroy that person. "Kariba samhara" They may chant the Holy Name or they may take bath in the Ganga but that same activity will destroy them, because of their offensive attitude towards Murari Gupta or the Lord's Associates. So Sarvabhauma Thakura confirms this, he says that Ganga patasha hoile pascate pavana, darshane pavitra koro ei tomara guna..The Vaishnava instantly purifies, when you see a Vaishnava one instantly gets purified, but one has to take repeated bath in the Ganga to become purified, so toma sthane aparadhe nahi paritrana There is no way you can be delivered by committing an offense against a Vaishnava Aparadha. Hari sthane aparadhe tare harinama. By constant chanting, the Holy name may deliver if you commit an offense against the Lord, but the Vaishnava is the personification, the reservoir , the vehicle of the Lord especially Nityananda Gauranga Bhaktas, are most merciful great associates of the Lord and one who criticises them even for a moment, they are destroyed comlpletely. In the Padma Purana It is said that if one insults a Vaishnava, then even if one worships Lord Bhagavan Krishna for 100 lives the Lord will not become merciful on him.

31) 'murari' vaisaye gupte ihara hridaye, eteke 'murarigupta' nama yogya haye .."31..

'Murari', the Supreme Lord is secretly (gupta) seated in Murari Gupta's heart. This is the spiritual import of Murari's name."

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

So Murari is the name of Lord Krishna, the killer of the demon Mura. Ari means enemy Murari means demon, so "'murari' vaisaye gupte ihara" The Lord is residing most confidentially in the gupta form in the heart of Murari Gupta. That is why Murari Gupta is a most suitable name for this great devotee, because he has caught the Lord in his heart and the deep crevices of his heart. In the most confidential way, like Hanuman, he opens his heart to reveal the Lord.

32) murarire kripa dekhi' bhagavatagana, premayoge 'krishna' vali' karena rodana ..32..

The Vaishnava devotees began to weep in ecstasy chanting Krishna's name, seeing how Lord Gauranga showered His mercy upon Murari.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

Seeing the mercy of the Lord on Murari, all the exalted devotees cried in love while chanting the names of the Lord, Krishna Krishna Krishna Krishna, prema yoga, prema yoga, this is the culmination of bhakti yoga is prema yoga. In Prema Yoga they were all crying and glorifying Muraris qualities.

33) murarire kripa kaila shri chaitanya raya, iha yei sune, sei prema-bhakti paya ..33..

Anyone who simply hears the pastimes of Lord Gauranga's extraordinary mercy to Shrila Murari Gupta will receive pure loving unalloyed devotion for the Lord.

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

So these first 33 verses of Chaitanya Bhagavata Ch 10 Madhya Kanda glorifies the mercy given by Gauranga Mahaprabhu to Shrila Murari Gupta. Anyone who hears this narration "murarire kripa kaila". We are very unfortunate we were not present at that time to see these pasttimes, but by the mercy of Vrndavan das Thakura we can see them through sound vibration and one who hears this narration, it is 33 verses only, its not much, but one who hears these 33 verses "Chaitanya raya". The King Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, how he gave mercy to Murari, "yei sune" it is not even if one hears attentively or inattentively, or it is not even said if one hears offensively or inoffensively, Anyone who hears this pasttime "sei prema-bhakti paya" he will achieve prema bhakti pure unalloyed devotional service to the Lord and achieve recognition from the Lord and surely join the Lord in his transcendental divine pastimes.

34) murarira shridhara kande sammukhe padiya, prabhu o tambula khaya garjiya garjiya

Commentary by Swami Gaurangapada:

So in this way the Lord roared after giving mercy to Murari and Shridhara and he was eating the betel nuts given by Gadadhara and roaring and roaring and in front of him Murari and Shridhara were crying in bliss and remembering the mercy of the Lord on them. So thank you very much for hearing this narration of Murari Gupta's glories and the mercy given to him by Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu and please let us become immersed in the ocean which the Lord is distributing to his devotees in his mahaprakash lila and let us follow in the footsteps of Murari Gupta and ask from the Lord this benediction that 'Let me have the residence where the Lord's devotees are residing and let me life after life be the servant of the servants of Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu and let me sing the guna and the glories of the Holy Names and the pasttimes of Gauranga Mahaprabhu constantly." That will be possible by the mercy of Murari Gupta and I am sure that anyone who has heard this pastime and will hear it in the future, will receive this qualification to constantly vibrate Gauranga's name and Gauranga's pastimes and see the Lord face to face very soon. Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krishna! Shri Chaitanya Bhagavata Ki Jaya!
