One Can Hear Them Talking

Post Author: Swami Gaurangapada    Date: 2007-10-18 15:12:00
Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Jaya Shri Guru Parampara! Today, when I was chanting, I was wondering at the marvel of the Holy Names. When you chant the Holy Names deeply and regularly, one can gradually understand the language of the Lord's Associates in the spiritual world. As one chants the Holy Names, one can hear, see and understand with the inner eye of the soul what the Associates of the Lord are talking in the spiritual world. This is a miracle.

I was surprised to find that even though I was chanting the Holy Names and hearing nothing else from my material ears still I could understand with my soul's eye what the Associates were communicating with each other. It was as if I could hear Them, understand their language and also partially experience Their spiritual emotions. This proves that the language and communication in Goloka is fully transcendental and not of this mundane platform i.e. nothing to do with this material world. And these divine exchanges of Goloka in the deepest and most intricate form can be fully revealed to us inside the great powerhouses of the Holy Names which are accessible to one and all, simply by vibrating our tongues...golokera prema dhana, hari naam sankirtana.

It is the greatest causeless mercy of Lord Gauranga Krishna to have imparted absolutely everything about Him in His Holy Names. By absolutely, I really mean absolutely. There is nothing in Him which is not there in His Holy Names. The most unbelieveable and inconceivable truth in the whole of existence is that the Holy Names of Nityananda, Gauranga, and Hare Krishna contain even the most deepest secrets and pastimes of Goloka Vrindavana which are not revealed to even the Associates in Vaikuntha. Oh Lord, this is such unprecendented mercy coming from You and still I am so miserable and pitiable that I have not developed the desire to chant Your Names constantly!

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna!

How wonderful to read such unique and confidential realizations of Yours! i feel the immense importance of associating with great vaishnavas like Yourself to keep up the necessary faith and enthusiasm for chanting the Holy Name of the Lord. General association with devotees is very nice and helpful but even more than that is the precious and substantial association of advanced and pure devotees like You. Actually only to that type of association Lord's causeless mercy can be fully attributed and acts like an magnet, which attracts and drags the soul out of the boundless pool of material desires. Thank You very much.

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Thanks for your most kind words. But it is not my qualification. I had some faith in the words of my Shrila Gurudeva who quoted repeatedly from Shrila Jagadananda and Shrila Thakura Bhaktivinoda: naam bhaja, naam chinta, naam kara saara...And They decided to give me some mercy due to that small faith and some insignificant taste in the Holy Names...Jaya Shri Guru Parampara!!!

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna!

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to the Guru Parampara. All glories to Sri Sri Gaura Nitai. All glories to Sri Sri Radha Krishna.

Thank you so much Swamiji for your intimate sharing. This is so beautiful. The Holy Names are so complete that They contain everything…even the most confidential realms of the Lord. Sometimes we are so blessed by the causeless mercy of Lord Nityananda that we receive glimpses of those realms. It totally baffles our ordinary perception and awakens the senses of our soul. It is good that these experiences are limited to glimpses because our material bodies can nearly stand the impact.

A few times now I have come to the same spot within my soul during japa meditation: Lord Nityananda is sitting on a rock by a flowing mountain stream. He sits there is His insurmountable glory in a shining blue robe and he is surrounded by an ocean of devotees who are all singing ‘Jaya Jaya Gauranga Radha Krishna Jaya Jaya? The air is filled with Ghandarvas who are playing celestial instruments and the whole atmosphere is surcharged with unlimited joy. The grass, the plants, the trees, the cows, everything is glowing a golden light of ever expanding happiness. At first I felt very shy to be there and had the feeling to hide however Lord Nityananda’s presence is everywhere and there is no way to hide, not even behind the thickest tree. At first it felt as if I was witnessing the whole scene but very soon it surrounded me and it was a multi dimensional experience in which I was partaking.

The second time I happened to arrive at that same spot the same celestial singing was going on but this time I dared to look longer at Lord Nityananda. He didn’t look at me and therefore I dared to look at Him. It was as if He purposely didn’t look at me so I could look at Him because in my heart I knew He was very well aware of my presence there. It was as if the body of Lord Nityananda was an abode in itself in which Lord Gauranga was singing looking up at Radha and Krishna Who were sitting calmly at a pond. I cannot properly describe this but it is as if Lord Gauranga was in Lord Nityananda and Radha Krishna in Lord Gauranga. Like you look through a window and through another window and another one…This happened all simultaneously and many different ragas and mellows and sceneries were simultaneously taking place as one event.

These experiences happen completely on the level of the soul. They overcame me while I was doing japa in the woods, early in the morning. It was still dark outside and both times when I regained my external consciousness I was totally lost and had no idea where I was. The first time I was on the other side of the river and I have no idea how I had crossed the river since there is no bridge in the woods. The second time I had to call my wife to pick me up…I had walked 8 kilometers from home.

We cannot evoke these kinds of experiences. You cannot say: “and now I want to experience this?and it happens. It overcomes us spontaneously by the mercy of the Lord. We can prepare ourselves by chanting increasing the quality and quantity. That is the beauty of Swami Gaurangapada’s chanting stages. He accepts you already when you nearly chant any serious rounds. And in the process you start to chant more and more until you get a real taste for it. A few years ago I could not see myself chanting even sixteen rounds of the Maha Mantra. Now, by the mercy of Swamiji, I have without much effort grown to the level of 64 rounds of each of the Mantrarajas and 32 rounds of the Mahamantra every day.

Touched by the above experiences we wonder why we don’t chant continuously and it shows how worthless we actually are. Even though Lord Nityananda gives us the ultimate inspiration still we are so underdeveloped that we cannot raise our awareness into continuous service. Therefore I pray that I may receive the mercy of the Vaisnavas so that I may continue to have their holy association just looking for that next glimpse of eternal bliss.

Your servant,

Hadai Nityananda dasa

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Thank you Hadai Nityananda dasa for sharing your experiences in Naam Bhajana. Japa walks are quite ecstatic especially in a peaceful atmosphere. They rejuvenate our remembrances of the Lord since we are alone out in the open. Contrary to belief, it is sometimes more easy to remember the Lord on a concentrated non-distracted japa walk than a sleepy japa session while sitting down.

Yes. Shrila Haridasa Thakura was realizing the Lord in the Names so intensely that he considered everything else in life a distraction from his goal of Naam Bhajana. That is the ultimate stage a Naam Sadhaka can attain in Bhakti Yoga.

Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krsna
Lord's Name is non different from Supreme Lord. Advanced devotees who are engaged in chanting Holy Names fully understand this true. If we simply have some faith in words of such rare souls like His Grace Swami Gaurangapada we will also advance in our spiritual life. Sometimes we may think that we will never taste such realizations, but by mercy of guru, Naam and Supreme Lord our attempts will bring us fruit of devotion. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. You are showing to us practical example how to live full spiritual life and dedicate to service and Naam. Thank you so much. Simply by hearing such realizations we are becoming pure - guru mukhya padma vakya cittete koriya aykya. We should always desire to hear such ambrosial topics.
