Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Pranams and Blessings ! Kriya Yoga is a new invented system of Yoga. There are claims that it is mentioned in the Gita and by Patanjali etc. but there is no direct proof and it is not accepted nor authorized by the Lords Nityananda Gauranga and Their followers. Also it is not mentioned in any of the authentic Vedic scriptures like the Puranas, Vedas etc.
They try to mentally direct their life energy to revolve, upward and downward, around the six spinal centers which correspond to the twelve astral signs of the zodiac by focusing on the regulation of breath etc. But Gaudiya Vaishnava devotees consider even this breath control and regulation as a mundane activity and even though one may get some subtle mundane powers and siddhis by this and thus get lots of followers who are looking for mundane miracles, still it is not at all pleasing to Lord Gauranga Krishna.
Real spiritual advancement is a descending process (not an ascending one) and is successfully perfected only by the causeless mercy of the Supreme Lord Gauranga Krishna which is attained by Bhakti Yoga and Naam Bhajana.
Daaso'smi, Swami Gaurangapada.
