Pure disciples of Thakura Vrindavana

Post Author: Bhakta Matus    Date: 2007-11-23 16:45:23
Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Dear Swami Gaurangapada, dear devotees and guests,

Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura describes the nature of the genuine devotees of Lord Nityananda and followers of Shrila Vrindavana dasa Thakura in His purport to Chaitanya Bhagavata, Adi-khanda, Chapter 17, Verse 160:

O Lord, I may take birth in any species of life, but please be merciful that I may remain Your servant. Moreover, O Lord, since You do not engage in any activity other than glorifying the qualities of Mahaprabhu, may I, as Your most insignificant servant, constantly engage in assisting a little in Your service.?Presently the transcendental Vaishnavas who live in the mathas as members of the Vishva-vaishnava Raja-sabha have abandoned all varieties of material activities and are following in the footsteps of Nityananda Svarupa in order to glorify the qualities of Gaurachandra. They alone are the genuine, pure disciples of Thakura Vrindavana. For this reason sinful persons who are victims of the age of Kali and averse to such disciples are certainly sinful and on the path to hell.

Which mathas is His Divine Grace talking about in this purport? What does 'Vishva-vaishnava Raja-sabha' mean? Could His Holiness Swami Gaurangapada Maharaja please explain little more about these vaishnavas?

Thank You very much.

Yours truly,

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! He is talking about the sincere and renounced devotees specifically in the Gaudiya Math temples. Vishva Vaishnava Raja Sabha was the name given by Shrila Jiva Goswami to the community of Gaudiya Vaishnava Acharyas and all their disciples and followers of Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu during his time to bring them under one banner. Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Prabhupada revived this name and considered the Gaudiya Matha as one of the prominent branches of the Vishva Vaishnava Raja Sabha since Gaudiya Matha was endeavoring to spread Lord Gauranga's mercy via the preaching movement.

Daaso'smi, Swami Gaurangapada.
