Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! All Glories to Swami Gaurangapada, the Guru Parampara and the Vaishnavas!
I recently downloaded the Sri Gaudiya Giti-guccha songbook. It is a collection of songs and poems by the Gaudiya Vaishnava Acaryas.
Last evening, I read some songs about Lord Nityananda and Lord Gauranga while I was doing my chanting. I would read a song and then meditate on what the song was about while I was chanting. It seemed to help me focus on the Lord while I was chanting.
I was just wondering if this is an ok thing to do. It really seemed to help, but I was wondering if other people do the same thing.

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Please accept my humble rs.
i think it is a very nice method. Gurudeva also advices to read everyday pastimes of Lords Nityananda Gauranga. It is very powerful and i shall personally get very serious about this point. Otherwise chanting and other worship is done with weak meditation.
Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Pranams and Blessings ! Yes, that is known as Bhakti Rasayana. To relish the Naam Bhajana, by combining it with nectar verses, songs or pastimes of the Lord while chanting. But care should be taken that we don't do chanting and reading the verses, songs or pastimes at the same time. We can read a little and then chant a few rounds while remembering what we have read.
