Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krsna I have heard that it is recommended that salagrama sila should be worshiped together whit white Davaraka-sila and that Dvaraka silas are specific because they have different number on chakras on their transcendental body. So, what is difference between Dvaraka sila and other silas? Are they silas from ancient Dvaraka? What is specific of such worship? Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krsna
Hare Krishna Nitai Gouranga! Dearest Igor Prabhu, I live five minutes from a temple that has over twelve thousand Salagrams. I know many devotees who worship Salagram without the presence of a Dwarka Sila. Salagram worship is actually very simple, but one must worship with Tulsi and Ganga water. This is what pleases the Lord the most, especially in His form of Salagram which is a direct incarnation of the Lord, there is no need of seperate installment as one would commonly do with Arca Vigraha. It is said in sastra that Gaura Nitai don't consider any offenses in worship, Jagganath Baladeva Subadra consider 15% of ones offenses. Radha Krishna means one recieves 85% reaction for ones offences and for Salagram the reaction is 100%. That is the mercy of Salgrama sila that you will be brought up to the level of pure Bhakti very quickly as anything else will become very apparant in your service. Salagrama worship is also called Nitya Seva which means once you begin to worship, one must continue it daily untill one dies, and one must ensure the worship is maintained as the worship is also your responsibility after death. Srila Prabhupada cried when he saw the children at Mayapur fighting with the dogs to get some remnants from the old plates heap, he instructed his disciples not to allow anyone to go hungry for ten miles around the temple. He explained such persons are born hungry because they worshipped Salagrama in a previous life but did not maintain the worship and the offerings were stopped. Salagrams come from the kali Gandaki in nepal, Dwarka silas come from dwarka and Govardhan silas come from Govardhan Hill in Vrindavan.
Also it is not advisable to begin to worship any Sila unless a Shila is given to you by your spiritual master and instructs you to worship Him. It is not permitted by Sastra to worship a Sila unless one has second (twice born initiation) from a spiritual master. It is said that Krishna feels it painful to be worshipped by one who is not Brahman and who is not worshipping the Sila under the direct order of a spiritual master.

Kalay sudra sambhavah...in this age we are all sudras. But if we are engage in devotional service we are becoming higher then brahmanas. Vaisnavas, specially devotees of Lord Nityananda and Gauranga are far above varnas and asramas because they are chanting Holy Names of Nitai-Gaura and therefore personally associate with Lord. Sudra, ksatriya, vaisya or brahmana it is just bodily consideration. No value at all. Srilla Haridasa Thakura was not brahmana but He was Nama Acarya. Lord accepts our devotion not position. Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu instruct us: naham vipra na ca narapatir napi vaisyo na sudro naham varni na ca grhapatir no vanastho yatir va kintu prodyan nikhila paramananda-purnamrtabdher gopi-bhartuh pada-kamalayor dasa-dasanu-dasah
" I am not a brahmana, nor a ksatriya; I am not a vaisya nor a sudra, I am not a brahmacari, nor a householder, not a vanaprastha, not a sannyasi. But since Lord Sri Krsna, the maintainer of the gopis and the overflowing ocean of nectar, is the only source of universal, transcendental bliss, I claim to be a servant to the servant of the servant of His lotus feet." We cannot assert that varnashrama has no meaning. Otherwise why did Srila Prabhupada not allow anyone to worship Radha Kishna or Salagrama Sila without second Brahmana initiation?
Worship of the Lord in these forms requires a strict level of personal purity. It is not that we can chant the Names of Gaura Nitai and immediatly consider ourselves liberated to act as we please above the rules of Varna and Ashram. This is neither wise or safe and is not the standard of our Acaryas.
This is why we require the help of a bona fide spiritual master who we are advised to take shelter of by initiation. When the expert spiritual master sees we have come to the proper level of purity through our chanting of Gauranga Nityananda and Hare Krishna then he is able to decide if we are ready to recive initiation as a qualified brahmana. This is the process laid out by the great Acaryas Srila Prabhpada as well as Srila Bhaktisiddhanta.
Sila worship is something we do in an authorised way and that is the point being made by the sastras. We begin the worship when the Guru decides we are on the correct level of purity, otherwise the Lord considers it painful. If we decide to worship and serve on our own accord, how do we really know its what the Lord wants? It will be what we want. Therefore one requires the help of Guru.
This verse by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is not instructing us to renounce Varnaashram. Indeed that is not the example set by any bona fide devotees. Rather we follow the system that the Lord set up for the process of coming to the stage where we are fully Krishna conscious, without being attached to the rules alone (Niyamagraha,Upadeshamrita verse 2)
We do not consider ourselves Brahmanas, but we do need to act in the capacity of Brahminical culture if we want to maintain our chanting of Gauranga Nityananda and especially if we want to worship Silas which is strictly done through the personal direction and blessings of a bona fide Guru.

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Actually both of you are right. For Pancharatriki Deity Worship, the brahminical qualification is required according to the standard set up by Shri Shrila Prabhupada Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura. But for chanting and spreading the Holy Names of Nityananda, Gauranga and Hare Krishna (Bhagavata Marga), no qualification is required, not even the elevated status in the daivi varnashrama system. That is why Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu was not satisfied with Shrila Ramananda Raya's explanation of even the daivi varnashrama and say "eho bahya"...this is external...go deeper.
Thanks Gouranga dasa for all the info on Shaligram worship. Though there are very great glories and benefits of worshiping a Shaligrama Shila, I would also recommend that one worships a Shaligrama or Govardhana Shila only after receiving Him and the clear intructions to worship Him from Shrila Gurudeva or advanced and elevated Vaishnavas just like Shrila Raghunatha Goswami did after receiving Him from Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu Himself. This is because the offenses in the worship of Shaligrama are also very seriously considered by the Lord, since the Lord has self-manifested in the Shaligrama Shila even though the Lord is considered merciful in the form of the Shila. If one already happens to have one, then one should ask for permission and only worship Him under the guidance of Shrila Gurudeva or an advanced Shiksha Guru.

I have spoken to several devotees and although i don't yet have have the quotes as I am currently on travelling Sankirtan, the sastras declare that it is considered auspicious to worship a Dwarka Sila along with a Salagrama Sila but not that it is not compulsory.
Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Jaya Guru Parampara! Pranams and Blessings! Dvaraka Shila is to be worshiped by those devotees whose constitutional relationship with Lord Krishna is in Svakiya Bhava i.e. following in the footsteps of the mood of the Queens of Dvaraka normally not by those devotees who want to attain Vraja.
In regards to Shaligrama worship, I would also like to mention that even though it is very auspicious to have many Shaligrama Shilas at one place, it is not preferable for a normal devotee to worship many Shilas at a time unless one has the full time, resources and dedication to worship each and every one of Them with full attention just like Lord Advaita Acharya who mentioned in the Shri Chaitanya Bhagavata that if one endeavors to serve many assembled Vaishnavas at one time, then one may end up committing offenses against one or some of them since one may not be able to give each of them individual attention.

Where is this from Maharaja?
It is commonly known among Salagram worshippers who worship many Shilas that one Salagram may accept the worship on behalf of the others. If there is a Sastric statement which states this is wrong please let me know.
In Scotland there is actually a confidential reason why the devotees have amassed over 12,000 Salagram Silas.
In Sastra it is said that 108 Silas in one place turns the entire area for an 8 mile circle from the place where those Salagrams reside into a Holy Dham. The sastras declare that anyone who leaves their body whithin this 8 mile radius of the Salagrams goes back to the spiritual world!
Our hope is that in due course of time we will expand our number of devotees and be able to open more temples all over Scotland. Each temple will worship 108 Silas thus creating another Holy Dham for an 8 mile circle around the temple and eventually we hope that we will have many Holy Dhams all over lapping each other to make one giant 'Scotland Dham' Thus delivering the entire country back to Godhead. We have a duty to deliver the fallen souls and this is our future plan for our prabhu datta desh (place where one is ordered to preach and deliver the people)
This may take many years but with the blessings of Sri Nityananda Rama and all the Vaisnavas anything is possible!

It is in Shri Chaitanya Bhagavata. It is normally a common understanding that worshiping of many Deities or Shilas or Vaishnavas at one assembly simultaneously can be performed only by very advanced Vaishnavas because each of every one of These Personalities requires individual care and attention and thus there is more of a chance to commit offenses. This is one of the reasons why Lord Advaita prayed to Indra to make Lord Gauranga come alone to His home so that He can feed Him nicely with undivided attention. I think a verse to this effect can be found in the Hari Bhakti Vilasa.

This is a nice plan and desire for the pleasure of the Lord. I am happy that you are nicely accompanying it with the mass spreading of the Holy Name of Gauranga and the Hare Krishna Mahamantra because the Names give potency to all spiritual practices and plans in Kali Yuga.
Every devotee has an unique way to preach the glories of the Lord. My personal understanding is that the way in Kali Yuga is harer naama, harer naama....Lord Gauranga states in Shri Navadvipa Dhama Mahatmya that to those areas and places where my Holy Name spreads, those areas will become free from the influence of Kali Yuga and they will become Holy Places. So even if you simply continue to sing and spread the Holy Name of Lord Gauranga everywhere in Scotland, Scotland will become higher than even Vaikuntha because the Holy Name of Gauranga is not accessible even in the Vaikuntha planets (vaikunthepi sudurlabham).

Is it not the case that we actually get the mercy of Lord Nityananda by chanting Lord Chaitanyas Holy Name?
As Lord Nityananda instructs:
Bhaja Gauranga Kaha Gauranga Laha Gauranga Naama Re Je Jana Gauranga Bhaje Se Amara Prana re,
"Worship Gauranga, Call out Gouranga, take the Name of Gauranga, whoever worships Gauranga is my life and soul" (Lord Nityananda)
I understood from this verse that Lord Nityananda is actually more pleased when we chant the Name of Gouranga. It is with the mood of encouraging people to chant Gourangas name so they may get the sweet mercy of Nitai that we have initiated this Gouranga campaign.
(The last festival we had for the public in Chorley Uk was a great success! The hall was full and everyone stood up and chanted and danced in ecstacy. There was a long applause at the end and all the Bhagavad Gitas were sold on the book table!)
Lord Caitanya and Lord Nityananda let the mercy flow, it was apparant to all. Guests said they had never seen so many people looking so happy together in one place before! The next one will be in Leeds on May 17th
Regarding the worship of Silas and worshipping the Lords through one Sila which we do, (Sri Tulsi Nath Maharaja). If you can provide a direct sloka in this context I will certainly show it to the devotees. Some congregation members also complained about this but several advanced devotees have said it is ok. We do regularly take all 12,000 salagrams and for a week Caru deshna Prabhu (Pujari) and one other devotee spend hours every day carefully massaging each Sila with oils. Then we offer 12,000 sweets which fill up the alter as well as offering 12,000 tulsi leaves. We then distribute the Salagrams Maha sweets far and wide and often devotees will give a person a sweet on sankirtan and they become so favourable that they happily buy one of Prabhupadas books and chant GOURANGA!

Yes surely. We get Lord Nityananda's mercy when we chant Lord Gauranga's Holy Name. But we need the mercy of Lord Nityananda's Associates and the Guru Parampara Acharyas also who are representatives of Lord Nityananda, who instruct us to chant and spread Lord Nityananda's Holy Name as well. Also Lord Gauranga Himself instructs us in Shri Chaitanya Bhagavata to chant the Holy Name of Lord Nityananda always. So by chanting Gauranga, one pleases Lord Nityananda and by chanting Nityananda, one pleases Lord Gauranga, and by chanting Hare Krishna, one pleases both. If you read the quotes at the end below, our Acharyas have repeatedly talked about chanting These two Holy Names of Nityananda and Gauranga, not just one. Shrila Krishnadasa Kaviraja Goswami told his brother than he should accept both these Divine Brothers Lord Nityananda and Lord Gauranga, not just one of Them. So we should accept, chant and preach both Their Holy Names along with the Hare Krishna Mahamantra to get the full mercy and empowerment.
I would like to present the following scriptural pramanas for chanting Lord Nityananda's Holy Name:
Chaitanya-charitamrita Adi-lila 8.23: 'nityananda' balite haya krsna-premodaya;aulaya sakala anga,asru-ganga vaya.
"Simply by chanting the name 'Nityananda' one awakens his or her dormant pure love for Lord Krishna. Thus all his bodily limbs are agitated by ecstasy of love of God, and tears flow from his eyes like the waters of the Ganges."
Shripada Madhavendera Puri states: "If one simply hears the name 'Nityananda', he will most certainly attain the lotus feet of Lord Krishnacandra irrespective of any other consideration."
(Chaitanya Mangala, Madhya Khanda, Deliverance of Jagai n Madhai) 125. "Anyone who just once his life speaks the word 'Nityananda' becomes purified. He becomes My pure devotee."
Sri Navadvipa-dhama-mahatmya, Chp 1, states:
gauranga-nitai yei bale eka bara; ananta karama-dosa anta haya tara.
"The most fortunate person who chants the names Nityananda and Gauranga just once immediately destroys the unlimited sinful reactions accumulated for unlimited number of lives in the past."
nitai-caitanya bali yei jiva dake; suvimala krsna-prema anvesaye thake.
"If one feelingly and loudly calls out the names of Nityananda and Gauranga, the purest Krsna-prema (pure love of Krsna) comes searching after such a person."
Cc Adi 8.31 caitanya-nityanande nahi esaba vicara, nama laite prema dena, vahe asrudhara
"But if one only chants, with some slight faith, the holy names of Lord Gauranga and Nityananda, very quickly he is cleansed of all offenses. Since in the chanting of the names of Nityananda-Gauranga there is no consideration of offenses, one will very quickly come to the stage of love of God, simply by chanting Their names and tears of pure love for Krishna will flow from the eyes."
Shri Shrila Prabhupada Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura: "The Hare Krsna maha-mantra considers the offenses whereas the names of Gaura-Nityananda don't consider offenses. An offensive chanter will never achieve the fruit of chanting (pure love for Krsna) by chanting the Hare Krsna maha-mantra. Therefore till the time he is commiting offenses, he should chant the names of Gaura-Nityananda. Due the repeated chanting of the names of Gaura-Nityananda, the offenses will destroyed and he will achieve the fruit of chanting."
Shrila Prabhupada in Cc Adi 8.3 purport: "In the beginning one should very regularly chant Sri Gaurasundara's holy name and then chant the holy name of Lord Nityananda. Thus one's heart will be cleansed of impure desires for material enjoyment. Then one can approach Vrndavana-dhama to worship Lord Krsna. Unless one is favored by Lord Caitanya and Nityananda, there is no need to go to Vrndavana, for unless one's mind is purified, he cannot see Vrndavana, even if he goes there."
Shrila Narottama Dasa Thakura: nitai na bolilo mukhe, majilo samsara-sukhe vidya-kule ki koribe tar (Narottama das Thakura)
"Because he never uttered the holy name 'Nityananda', he has become merged into so-called material happiness. What can his useless education and family tradition do to save him from the cycle of birth and death?"
Chaitanya-Bhagavata Madhya 3.134:
vanik adhama murkha ye karila para, brahmanda pavitra haya nama laile yanra
"The entire universe is purified by chanting the name of Lord Nityananda as it is only He who delivered the fallen, the foolish, and the merchants."
Purport by Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada:
nityanandera prabhura nama shravana karile jagatera sakala lokera papa-pravrtti prashamita haiya pavitra tara udaya haya. vanik, adhama, murkha-iharau pavitra haiya brahmajna u bhagavad-bhakta hana.
"Simply by chanting or hearing the name of Lord Nityananda, the sinful inclinations in the hearts of all the living entities in the universe are permanently destroyed and their inherent purity is automatically awakened. On chanting or hearing the name of Lord Nityananda, even the merchants, degraded, fallen and foolish people are purified and immediately become realized in the Absolute Truth and devotees of the Lord."
