Title: Confused about Nityanando User: Swami Gaurangapada Date: 2007-03-15 08:20:43
Swami, i am confused with the audio ebook of the stotram which you posted recently. some of the pronounciation of the 12 names in the verses are different from the meaning of the 12 names. how come nityananda is pronounced as nityanando in the verse? which 12 names are the correct pronounciation?
Answer by Swami Gaurangapada:
Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Jaya Gauranga Dharma! Jaya Shrila Prabhupada! Pranams and Blessings!
Thank you so much for your downloading, hearing and chanting the 12 Holy Names of Lord Nityananda. In Sanskrit the vocative address of Radha becomes Radhe and so on. So sometimes when the Holy Names are used as a part of the Sanskrit verse which is the case in these 12 Holy Names, a vocative is used. Or Sanskrit conjuncts are used to compose the verse so the Name may appear joined to another word and thus a little different so as to fit properly in the Sanskrit verse. So you do not need to be confused. Just chant the 12 Holy Names in the form of the original verses because it is a Sanskrit Stotra or Hymn composed of the 12 Holy Names. We have just broken them Name by Name and given the meanings. For daily chanting you should use the original verses of the Stotra and chant nityanando...
