Title: Time short days and chanting rounds

Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krishna

   All glories to Swami Gaurangapada!

   All glories to Shrilla Prabhupada!

When I started to chant 16-16-16 rounds I was in dilemma – will I found enough time to chant because I have many business and family obligations. Sometimes it is possible to chant all rounds at once, but sometimes it is not easy to find required time at once. My time schedule is very specific – sometimes I am working in morning, sometimes in afternoon, sometimes in evening, and with many other duties sometimes it is hard to find enough time to chant all round at once with full concentration. But where is will there is the way!

On specific time-short days with many duties, I found that preparing time for chanting in advance is of great help for me. I divide my chanting time for such days on 4 parts 4x4 rounds. It take me 12-15 minutes to chant one round (it’s little slow, and I am hoping to increase in future). I found that on such way I can easily and with increased concentration chant all rounds during day.

So I wanted to share this with all of you who may have similar working time-short problems. Hoping it will help you to chant nicely…What are your experiances? Please share...

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna!

My only suggestion would be to make sure you always get the chanting done each day. Even if you have to chant while driving or whatever, I would just keep on chanting. If you do this and are sincere I am sure Nitai-Gaura will put you in a more comfortable position to chant. I also like to chant along with Swami Gaurangapada's and Shrila Prabhupada's japa files, and this will increase your speed and will help clear away maya while chanting.

Another thing that I find hugely beneficial is to mentally chant while doing duties like working, etc. when you can't chant aloud. I find that songs stick in my head very easily so when I am working in the morning I wear headphones and listen to Swami Gaurangapada's nama sankirtana album once or twice depending on time and then when I go out and work I have all these songs playing in my head automatically. I just started doing this and it is very nice. Unfortunately there is always a radio playing in the office so if I take my headphones off I am exposed to garbage pop music, so if my mind focuses on these mundane vibrations then I very quickly try to focus it on the spiritual sound vibrations. It is a battle really, but if I listen to Nitai-Gaura songs for an hour and mundane songs for 10 minutes, my mind can easily be focused back to the Nitai-Gaura vibrations.

ALL material sound vibrations are useless and harmful as far as I am concerned.

Of course when the mind isn't on the spiritual sound vibration then it must be on some sort of mundane vibration like our mental thoughts and the material modes bind us accordingly. Focus on spiritual sounds and there is no chance of the three gunas exerting their influence, they are rendered powerless.

Spiritual sound vs. material sound. Unfortunately in the conditioned stage our mind still gets pulled towards material sound farily easily but with just a little effort I believe it's possible to almost always be focused on spiritual sound someway, somehow...By a sheer onslaught of Spiritual sound vibrations.
