Title: Spinach & Ginger Salad

User: candrika         Date: 2006-07-26 17:29:24

In Bengal when people divide food into portions for offering to the Lord, they use the word "badaila" which means increased.

Shrila Prabhupada said of this ..

Whenever food is prepared and we take away a portion, the food is actually decreased. But here it is the system to say badaila, or "increased." If food is prepared for the Lord and offered to Him and the Vaishnavas, the stock is increased, never decreased.

He said this in the purports of Chaitanya Charitamrta: "" target="_blank" Madhya 3, as the word is used to describe Advaita Acharya preparing food for offering to the Lord. One of the dishes he was offering was a "salad made with pieces of ginger and various types of spinach" CC 3.45
