All Glories to Swami Gaurangapada!

Jaya Nrsimhadeva!

Yesterday was Nrsimha Caturdasi and I was able to leave work early to go to the Berkeley ISKCON temple (New Jagganath Puri Dham) for the celebration.

Its been quite a long time since I've been to the temple and I had a wonderful time. I feel fully blessed with the mercy of Lord Nrsimhadeva.

We started out with having a procession of the Murti of Lord Nrsimha around the temple. There were only about five or six devotees at that time, so I could get very close and have nice darshan. I was able also to get very close to the Deities of Their Lordships Sri Sri Sri Jagannatha, Baladeva and Subhadra; Sri Sri Gaura Nitai and Sri Sri Radha-Gokulananda. It was such a blessing.

After the procession, we gave the Lord a nice abhishekam with various items. Everybody had a chance to pour a kalash of milk over the Lord. It was so wonderful! I was able to look the Lord directly in the eyes and pour out the offering as an expression of my love and gratitude. During the abhishekam, the kirtan was particularly wonderful.

After another procession to return the Lord to his home on the altar, they closed the doors and the great kirtan continued very nicely. One of the devotees asked me if I'd like to perform some seva and I said "yes!" and was put to work sweeping the flower petals from off the floor. I was so grateful to be able to do a little seva. I was really aspiring to do some, but I didn't get a chance to ask. Instead the Lord took it upon himself to give me some seva. I look at that as a special blessing of Lord Nrsimhadeva.

After the Sandya Arati, they had a reading of Lord Nrisimha's pastimes, but I was unfortunately unable to stay. I also had to miss prasadam, but I am ok with that because I felt like I receieved so much mercy from the Lord already.

One thing that also happened was that on Sunday night there was a major accident where a gasoline tanker truck crashed and exploded causing part of a major freeway to collapse. No one was killed amazingly...That wasn't the only thing...because of the freeway closure, all public transportation in the Bay Area was free for a day. So not only did I get to go and have darshan of Lord Nrsimhadeva, it didn't cost me a cent to get there! I am SO blessed!

Pranams to Sri Swami Gaurangapada and pranams to all the Vaishnavas
