Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna!

My obeisances to you dear Matus for your sincerity of devotion and humility in writing this post. This condition of remaining humble whilst chanting Nityananda, Gauranga and Hare Krishna is indeed a tough requirement whilst we are living in today's society, which seems to be spiritually deteriorating and disintegrating before our eyes. There are so many distractions and provocations in daily life, revolving around events and especially attitudes of others.

I too have often reflected on this "more tolerant than a tree" condition that Lord Gauranga specifies, Matus and in my small experience have found the key to be within our beautiful Shrila Gaurangapada's teachings.

Somehow the chanting of Nityananda along with Gauranga and Hare Krishna gradually detaches us from the gross material concept by removing offenses in the heart. Then, those things in the world that before would trigger undesirable responses such as anger are seen as increasingly irrelevant to the gradually unfolding reality of realizing the Divine forms and pastimes of their Lordships within our hearts through the chanting, in the same way as an old coin, now out of circulation, has lost its value to us. In other words we are becoming genuinely and therefore permanently detached from Maya.

I always try to remember that none of this would  be possible for us to even partially accomplish without the compassion, guidance and unique perception of his Holiness Gaurangapada Swami and that I would still be floundering and sinking due to not being able to overcome the difficult obstacles in my heart.

As it is, even the very small progress I have made in this regard is a great relief and joy. Still, I need to broomstick my heart each morning with a warning to myself to guard against arrogance and intolerance during the day ahead.

The nectarian words of Shrila Prabodhananda Sarasvati Thakur that you have nicely quoted will surely come to pass fully within you in good time!

I hope this helps a little, Matus.

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna!

Your servant

Bhakta Michael
