Title: Gauranga Dharma on
MySpace.com

Nityananda! Gauranga!
Hare Krishna! All glories to
Shrila Bhaktivinoda, Shrila Prabhupada, my most beloved Shrila Gaurangapada and
all Vaishnavas. Please accept my humble
obeisances and blessings. I pray that
this meets you well and in the service/mercy of Shri Guru and Shri Gauranga.
At the encouragement of a
devotee friend, I started a page on MySpace.com. I was indeed fearful of starting a devotional
page because of all the material minded individuals on MySpace. Sex is flaunted in such a horrid manner, with
no regard to any moralistic principles.
As I began my journey on MySpace, I was immediately bombarded with video
offers to view such terriblely mundane material that my heart felt as if it
would break.
After a few days of
suffering through this materialist mental torture, I took this situation to the
lotus feet of Shri Nityananda. I simply asked Shri Nityananda what I should do,
and He immediately responded that I should continue with my page and when I
received these requests to simply tell them that I was a devotee of the Lord
and did not endulge, encourage nor condone such behavior. After thinking on this, I went through
several of Shrila Prabhupada's teachings on the subject of material sex life
and came up with a wonderful reply to these individuals.
I was amazed that after I
received such requests, that if I replies as Shri Nityananda instructed,
inviting them to a life of devotional service that such requests immediately
stopped. I found out that several
individuals that did subscribe to such pages contacted me requesting more
information. It seemed not to matter
what their background was. Buddhists,
Christians, Hindus, Pagans, all seemed to come to this little page of light in
the darkness of MySpace (I changed the name to MayaSpace) and begin asking
questions concerning devotional service.
After such a short period
of time, I have many "friends", but what suprises me is the number
that respond to my blog and have joined the group I started named
"Gauranga Dharma". There are
several individuals that are constantly asking questions, especially the
chanting of the Holy Names of Nityananda and Gauranga.
I have met many devotees
on MayaSpace. Many belong to other
Insititutions, but I tell them upfront that I will not become involved in
Institutional situation, I will not commit offense to any devotee of the Lord,
nor will I discuss Institutional politics.
While some have left because of my stand, I quickly realized that they
didn't want my association, but to simply complain about what was going on in
their own asramas and desired that I agree with them. This I will not do because no matter where a
devotee is serving, they are a devotee of the Lord and I will not place an
offence at their lotus feet. Others
continue to come and have become devotees of the Lord more deeply, wishing that
they too could become "non-institutional" in their thinking. I even have two wonderful devotees who have
given up their offenses to the servants of the Lord who walk certain asramas
and taken to the Manta-Rajas with full devotion.
I see now why Shri
Nityananda desired for me to stay on MayaSpace.
Over the past month many have voiced their pleasure that I have started
a space, telling me that my page is a refuge for them in the darkness of this
world. I pray that Shri Nityananda
Prabhuji will continue to shine His mercy upon this section of cyber-space
through me so that many more will take to the chanting of the Holy Names.
Your eternal servant;
Nitaipada Maharaja
