Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna!
Dear Swami Gaurangapada and assembled devotees,
please accept my simple obiesances.
Rose early this morning, around 3-30 am. Still having alot of pain with headaches at night, so one good thing is I am awakening early. Early mornings have been precious and joyous when my mind moves toward Gurudeva and his Lordships. My headaches are bearable with this mercy. And now receiving the mercy and words of all devotees via the internet sangha, this poor fool, is bound to develop a little in GaurangaKrishna consciousness soon. Thank you dear devotees, your words are like pure nectar. I feel grateful to realise a portion of this truth.
I went to a sunday market in town at 8-00am. Always on the lookout for inexpensive beautiful items to enhance service in Bhakti Yoga. This morning was possibly one of the greatest days I feel. Sitting amongst all these little nick nacks and bits and pieces was a naughty little, butter ball carrying, brass deity of Bala Krishna. I saw Him and was immediately attracted to Him, but at the time not sure if it was Krishna. I thought, "what is that ball in this deities hand. Surely it can't be a butterball can it?"
I asked the lady at the counter, but she was unaware what this deity was. A lady in another stall with antique knowledge said the deity was from the era, 1920-1930, possibly even late 19th century. She said it is worth alot alot more than the lady is asking for. Well, money is not a consideration now I know who He was(Bala Krishna). I purchased him for little lakshmi ($40-alot for my budget as I am out of work). The lady was overjoyed at the sale and said that I had made her day. I replied, "you have surely made mine."
Bala Krishna is in a Tamal Nadu style, such a rare find in Warrnambool. I had been looking for two years here for Krishna but with no luck.
Today I found Him. So naughty I thought, Mother Yashoda will be well pleased when I bring Him home. I bathed Him in lemon juice and gopi chandan and showered Him with luke warm water (it is cold weather here). I scrubbed His feet, massaged His legs, and lovingly chastised Him for hiding, getting dirty, and playing in the market. All cleaned up I said, "I see you are still holding the butter ball, after all this." Jaya Bala Krishna! Mother Yashoda will be so pleased. I placed a pearl garland around His neck.
Oh...I long for the day, when this play today will become my deepest meditation. Dear devotees I am begging you all, please grant shelter for this fallen soul(Nava Gauranga dasa).
I took Bala Krishna on tour before I placed Him on His altar. My neighbour (an ex-antique dealer) loved Him. I read some of Bala Krishna's pastimes out of Shrimad Bhagavatam to my neighbour, who is kind and tolerant of me. I then shared with him about Nityananda and Gauranga Naam, and the many other names of Krishna, of which Bala is one. Ofcourse explaining mercy unlimited, love is everything, and that the names are non-different to the name holder.
My neighbour is a special soul, for he is a well wisher. So special!
My neighbour cried out, "Gauraaanga!" And we laughed together.
Thanks Gurudeva for all your kindness and prayers. I feel so grateful. I offer todays gift at your Lotus Feet.
Nava Gauranga dasa.
