Title: Father to Son

User: Nava Gauranga dasa  Date: 2006-07-27 20:47:59

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna!

Dear Swami Gaurangapada and assembled devotees,

please accept my simple obiesances,

please accept this as an offering of gratitude.

It has been a challenging week since I last wrote to you all. I think the old saying, 'but by the grace of God go I' has sank deeper into my consciousness.

To receive kindness and well wishes from Guru and devotee friends is my greatest treasure.

As I entered some dark areas with my health this week, eventually a song that I wrote around ten years ago came back to my rememberance. I tinker a little bit on guitar and have written some diddies but this tune is the only one I remember over the course of time. At the time I wrote it I was associating with some nice Jesus devotees. So on this particular day I was reading scripture at a central green in town and there was some live bands playing. Absorbing myself in scripture and listening to a kindly indigenous (koori) female singer, who was like a wise mother and story-teller, I felt a real peace in my heart. After the koori singer finished playing I went home and wrote down the following simple lyrics with complete chord accompinament straight off. It was a real song of the heart and rings true for me today as much as it did then.

                              ****Father to son****

Hold on to your hopes and dreams,

and know that you are loved.

You mean something to me,

more than you might know,

so put your trust in me.

And proclaim your faith,

let your true song fly

that's what I treasure most,

the beauty deep within your heart,

from father to son,

I give you all my love.

And proclaim your faith,

let your true song fly

that's what I treasure most.

From father to son

I give you all my love.

So I feel to share that whatever depths we may submerge in this material existence, please take heart for our Lord GaurangaKrishna sees our heart, even when sometimes we can't.

Lord Gauranga is the greatest singer, and his tune is Love of God. By the regular chanting of Nityananda, Gauranga, and Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare  Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.......

we will awaken and perceive our original nature, "as per my song...'let your true song fly, that's what I treasure most, the beauty deep within your heart'"

"Krishna may embrace me in love

or trample me under his feet.

He may break my heart

by hiding himself from me.

Let that debauchee do whatever He likes,

but He will always be the only Lord of my life."

Siksastaka written by our sweet and merciful Shri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (Gauranga),

translation by HH BR Shridhara Goswami.
