(Shri Brihad-bhagavatamrita 1.9, Sanatana Gosvami)

All glories, all glories to the name of Krishna-Murari, the enemy of lust and the

embodiment of divine bliss! It halts the cycle of birth and death and relieves one of

all painful endeavors in practicing religion, meditation, charity, deity worship and

austerity. It awards liberation to one who utters it even once. Krishna-nama stands

alone as the supreme nectar and sole treasure of my life.

(Shri Hari-bhakti-vilasa 11.234)

Krishna-nama is the sweetest of the sweet and the most auspicious of all that is

auspicious. It is the fully-ripened fruit of the Veda’s flourishing creeper (Shrimad-

Bhagavatam) and the embodiment of knowledge, cit-shakti. O best of the Bhrigu

dynasty, even if someone chants the holy name only once, with faith or indifference

(hela), he is immediately delivered from this ocean of birth and death!

(Shri Mukta-carita, Raghunatha dasa Gosvami)

I am fully indebted to Shri Gurudeva, because he is giving me so many things. He is

giving me the holy name containing the highest form of thought, aspiration, and

ideal, and he is giving me the service of that great savior, the son of Mother Shaci, Shri

Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who is like a golden mountain indicating the way to krishnali

la. And Shri Gurudeva has brought me to Svarupa Damodara, who is Lalita-devi,

Shrimati Radhika’s closest friend. Then he has brought me to Shri Rupa, who was

ordered to distribute rasa-tattva, and then to Shri Sanatana Gosvami, who adjusts our

position in relation to raganuga-bhakti. Gurudeva has brought me to Mathura

Mandala, where Radha and Govinda have their pastimes, where the forests, hills, and

every creeper, shrub and grain of sand are uddipana (stimuli) to help me remember

Radha and Govinda. He has given me Radha-kunda and Giriraja Govardhana, and

aho! he has given me assurance of all these, so I bow my head with deep respect unto

his lotus feet.

(translation by Shrila B.R. Shridhara Maharaja)

namas te gurudevaya sarva-siddhi-pradayine

(Shrimad-Bhagavatam 1.2.2)

I offer pranama to Shri Shukadeva Gosvami, who can enter the hearts of all living

beings. When he left home without undergoing the purificatory processes, such as

accepting the sacred thread, his father Vyasa cried out, "O my son!" As if they were

absorbed in that same feeling of separation, only the trees echoed in response to his

call.

forest fire which resembles the devouring teeth of Yamaraja, I take shelter of you and

appeal to you for deliverance.

I was unwilling to drink the nectar of bhakti-rasa laced with renunciation, but Shrila

Sanatana Gosvami, being an ocean of mercy who cannot tolerate the sufferings of

others, induced me to drink it. Therefore, I take shelter of Shrila Sanatana Gosvami as

my shiksha-guru.

When will Shri Rupa Gosvami give me the shelter of his lotus feet? Because he

understood the innermost desire of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, he was able to establish

His mission in this world and is very dear to the Lord.

situated in the innermost chambers of your heart. Resplendent with the radiance of

molten gold, He has appeared in the age of Kali by His causeless mercy to bestow

O merciful Lord, my second request is that after destroying the dense darkness of my

offences, please make this miserable person drink the nectar of Your feet.

O mind, exclusively meditate on Shrimati Radhika and Krishnacandra - Her bodily

complexion is like gold and His is like a fresh monsoon cloud; Her eyes are like blue

lotus flowers and His like red lotuses; Their foreheads are decorated with musk tilaka;

She wears a garland of malati flowers around Her neck and He of kunda flowers; and

They are wonderfully decorated in a charming and youthful fashion, She wearing a

blue dress and He a yellow garment - as They enjoy Their pastimes in the solitary

nikunjas of Vraja.

radha-skandha-niveshitojjvala-bhujam dhyayema damodaram (2)

(Shri Stava-mala, Radha-damodara-dhyana, Rupa Gosvami)

I meditate upon that Shri Damodara - whose dark bodily luster is millions of times

more beautiful than the blue lotus flower, whose brilliant yellow garments rebuke the

radiance of golden kunkuma, whose residence is Shri Vrindavana-dhama, whose chest

is beautified by a swinging vaijayanti garland, and whose splendorous left hand rests

upon the right shoulder of Shrimati Radhika.

Shri Navadvipa-dhama pranama

navina-shri-radha-hari-rasamayotkirtana-vidhim

navadvipam vande nava-karuna-madyan nava-rucim

(Shri Navadvipa-shataka, Prabodhananda Sarasvati)

I worship Shri Navadvipa-dhama, where Krishna appeared in a golden form to bestow

that bhakti which had never been given before; where the newly arisen forest is made

more beautiful by the flowing Ganga with her gentle, cool breezes; where Shrimati

Radhika and Shri Hari appeared in a new, combined form to give that kirtana which

is saturated with rasa; and where an ever-fresh, new taste (of the original devotional

mellow, shringara-rasa) is mercifully bestowed.

Shri Vrindavana-dhama pranama

svarita-madhura-venur vardhayan prema rase

(Shri Brihad-bhagavatamrita 1.5, Sanatana Gosvami)

All glories, all glories to Shri Vrindavana-dhama, where Shri Murari enjoys residing more

than He does in the hearts of sadhus or even in Vaikuntha, where He forever tends

cows, and where, by playing sweet melodies on the flute, He increases the gopis’

amorous love for Him.

shri paurnamasim shirasa namami

I bow my head and offer pranama unto Shri Paurnamasi-devi, who is completely adept

at arranging the most elevated varieties of enjoyment for the master of Shrimati

Radhika; whose lotus feet are worshiped by the Vrajavasis; and who, due to possessing

the entirety of transcendental qualities starting with kindness, is worshipable to

everyone in the entire universe.

Shri Radha-kunda vandana

(Vilapa-kusumanjali 98, Raghunatha dasa Gosvami)

O Radha-kunda, my mistress is engaging in very secret and beautiful playful pastimes

with Her darling Krishna in the kunjas on your banks. You are so near and dear to Them.

Therefore I am taking your shelter and praying for your mercy that you will show me

my Svamini, who is my very life and soul.

(Shri Brihad-Bhagavatamrita 1.7, Sanatana Gosvami)

Glory to Govardhana Hill, the king of all mountains including Sumeru, who was

given the title hari-dasa-varyah, the best servant of Hari, by the gopis, who was

worshiped by Shri Krishna after He stopped the Vrajavasis’ sacrifice to Indra, and who

was held in Krishna’s lotus hand for seven days.

(Shri Brihad-bhagavatamrita, Sanatana Gosvami)

I bow my head and offer pranama unto Giriraja Govardhana, who rested upon the

lotus hand of Acyuta for seven days, who is embellished with the humming of black

bees, and who expertly serves Hari and His dearest devotees by providing caves and

kunjas which supply an abundance of varieties of fruits, flowers, and roots for their

enjoyment.

Shri Gopishvara-shiva pranama

(Shri Sankalpa-kalpadruma 103, Vishvanatha Cakravarti Thakura)

O gatekeeper of Vrindavana! O Soma, all glories to you! O you whose forehead is

decorated with the moon, and who is worshipable for the sages headed by Sanaka,

Sanandana, Sanatana and Narada! O Gopishvara! Desiring that you bestow upon me

prema for the lotus feet of Shri Shri Radha-Madhava, who perform joyous pastimes in

Vraja-dhama, I offer pranama unto you time and again.

Shri Yamuna pranama

(Shri Padma Purana)

Yamuna-devi, the daughter of the Sun-god, is a reservoir of prema for Shri Nanda-sunu

(son of Nanda), the embodiment of spiritual bliss. Her liquid body is completely

transcendental, she forgives sins and offences, and bestows auspiciousness upon the

universe. May that Yamuna-devi purify me.

(Shri Padma Purana)

I offer pranamas time and again unto Shri Yamuna-devi, whose lotus feet are served

by the purifying holy places headed by the Ganga, who is glorious due to possessing

devotion for Shri Krishna in the mood of madhurya-rasa, who is the ocean which

immerses everyone in the waters of nectarean devotional ecstasy, and who always

provides Shri Radha-Mukunda with great happiness.

Shri Vraja-vasi-vrinda pranama

(Shri Vraja-vilasa-stava 100, Raghunatha dasa Gosvami)

Although Brahma is always very busy carrying out his many weighty duties, including

creating the material universe, still he longs to take birth in Vrindavana as a blade of

grass, a shrub, or in any other species. With utmost humility I worship each of the dear

devotees who reside in that Vrindavana. They are all supremely worshipable and

highly pious.

Shri Nrisimha pranama

namas te narasimhaya prahladahlada-dayine

hiranyakashipor vakshah shila-tanka-nakhalaye (1)

I offer pranama unto Narasimha Bhagavan, who gives joy to Prahlada Maharaja and

whose nails are like chisels on the stone-like chest of the demon Hiranyakashipu.

vag-isha yasya vadane lakshmir yasya ca vakshasi

yasyaste hridaye samvit tam nrisimham aham bhaje (2)

In His mouth the goddess Shuddha-Sarasvati is always present, on His chest Lakshmi-

devi always sports, and within His heart special affection for His devotees is always

manifest - I worship that Nrisimhadeva.

ito nrisimhah parato nrisimho yato yato yami tato nrisimhah

bahir nrisimho hridaye nrisimho nrisimham adim sharanam prapadye (3)

Nrisimhadeva is here and also there. Wherever I go Nrisimhadeva is there. He is in the

heart and is outside as well. I surrender unto Nrisimhadeva, the origin of everything

and the supreme refuge.
