Shrila Bhaktivinoda Thakura
bhakata-seva, parama-siddhi, prema-latikara-mula (1)
Dust from the lotus feet of pure devotees is very favorable for bhajana, and service
to the Vaishnavas is the highest perfection and the very root of the tender creeper of
madhava-tithi, bhakti-janani, yatane palana kari
krishna-vasati, vasati bali’, parama adare vari (2)
Very carefully I observe Madhava’s holy days like Ekadashi and Janmashtami for they
are the mother of devotion. Krishna stays in these tithis, so by honoring them we can
easily achieve Him. By deeply respecting Krishna’s lila-sthalis (pastime places), I will
receive their blessings.
gaura amara, je-saba sthane, karala bhramana range
se-saba sthana, heriba ami, pranayi-bhakata-sange (3)
In the company of pranayi (intimate, beloved) devotees, I will go to all the places
where Mahaprabhu joyfully wandered.
mridanga vadya, sunite mana, avasara sada yace,
gaura-vihita, kirtana shuni’, anande hridaya nace (4)
My mind is always anxious to hear the mridanga play. When I hear kirtana describing
Mahaprabhu, my heart dances in joy.
yugala-murti, dekhiya mora, parama-ananda haya
prasada-seva, karite haya, sakala prapanca jaya (5)
I feel the highest bliss upon seeing the deity forms of Yugala-kishora. Their prasada
enables one to conquer the five elements.
je-dina grihe, bhajana dekhi, grihete goloka bhaya
carana-sidhu, dekhiya ganga, sukha na sima paya (6)
My home is transformed into Goloka Vrindavana when I see Shri Radha-Krishna’s worship
being performed there. When I honor Shri Bhagavan’s caranamrita and look upon the
Ganga, my happiness knows no bounds.
tulasi dekhi’, judaya prana, madhava-toshani jani’,
gaura-priya, shaka-sevane, jivana sarthaka mani (7)
When I see tulasi, my heart becomes cool and soft, because I know that she pleases
Madhava. Shaka (22 varieties of greens) is very dear to Mahaprabhu, so when I honor
it, I consider my life successful.
bhakativinoda, krishna-bhajane, anukula paya jaha,
prati-divase, parama-sukhe, svikara karaye taha (8)
Everything that is favorable for krishna-bhajana, Bhaktivinoda accepts every day most
