Shrila Bhaktivinoda Thakura
kabe gaura-vane, suradhuni-tate, ‘ha radhe ha krishna’ bole
kadiya beda’ba, deha sukha chadi’, nana lata-taru-tale (1)
Oh, when will the day come when, leaving all bodily happiness, I will wander on the
banks of the Ganga in Shri Navadvipa-dhama under all the many trees and creepers,
weeping and calling out, "Ha Radha! Ha Krishna!"?
shvapaca-grihete, magiya khaiba, piba sarasvati-jala
puline puline, gadagadi diba, kari’ krishna-kolahala (2)
Oh, when will I beg eatables from the houses of the untouchables and drink water from
the Sarasvati and in this way maintain my life? When will I roll on the banks of the
sacred rivers, causing an uproar by loudly calling, "O Krishna! O Krishna!"?
dhama-vasi-jane, pranati kariya, magiba kripara lesha
vaishnava-carana-renu gaya makhi’, dhari’ avadhuta vesha (3)
Oh, when will I offer pranama to all the residents of the dhama, begging one drop of
mercy from them? I will don the cloth of an avadhuta (one above societal conventions,
mad with prema) and smear the footdust of the Vaishnavas all over my body.
gauda-vraja-jane, bheda na dekhiba, haiba varaja-vasi
dhamera svarupa, sphuribe nayane, haiba radhara dasi (4)
When I will no longer distinguish between the residents of Navadvipa and Vrindavana,
I will become a real Vrajavasi. The chinmaya form of the dhama will bestow upon me
her darshana, and I will become a maidservant of Shri Radha.
