Je Anila Prema-Dhana
Shrila Narottama dasa Thakura
je anila prema-dhana karuna pracura
hena prabhu kotha’ gela acarya thakura (1)
Who, out of His vast compassion, brought Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu with His treasure
of divine love to this world by calling Him with love and affection? Where has that
Advaita Acarya Thakura gone? [Advaita Acarya was shouting so loudly that Narayana’s
throne was shaking!]
kaha mora svarupa-rupa, kaha sanatana
kaha dasa raghunatha patita-pavana (2)
Where are my Svarupa Damodara and Rupa Gosvami? Where is Sanatana Gosvami?
Where is Raghunatha dasa Gosvami, the savior of the fallen, conditioned souls?
kaha mora bhatta-yuga, kaha kaviraja
eka-kale kotha’ gela gora nataraja (3)
Where are my Raghunatha Bhatta and Gopala Bhatta Gosvamis? Where is Krishnadasa
Kaviraja Gosvami? Where has Gauranga, the king of dancers, gone? Suddenly, all
at once they left! Where have they gone?
pashane kutiba matha anale pashiba
gauranga gunera nidhi kotha’ gele paba (4)
I shall dash my head upon a stone or enter into fire! Oh, where shall I find such a great
treasure-house of wonderful qualities as Gauranga? Where has He gone?
se saba sangira sange je kaila vilasa
se sanga na paiya kande narottama dasa (5)
All of them shared extremely beautiful, sweet pastimes with each other. Bereft of their
association, Narottama dasa weeps.
