Hari Hari! Kabe Haba Vrindavana-Vasi

Shrila Narottama dasa Thakura

hari hari! kabe haba vrindavana-vasi

nirakhiba nayane yugala-rupa-rashi (1)

O Shri Hari! When will I be able to live in Vrindavana and be a real Vrajavasi? When

will my eyes behold the beautiful forms of Shri Radha-Krishna Yugala?

tyajiya shayana-sukha vicitra palanka

kabe vrajera dhulaya dhusara ha’be anga (2)

Giving up the happiness of sleeping in a wonderful, luxurious bed, when will my

body be covered with the greyish dust of Vraja as I roll on the earth?

shad-rasa bhojana dure parihari

kabe vraje magiya khaiba madhukari (3)

Giving up all desire to taste the six flavors of delicious food [sweet, sour, salty,

pungent, bitter and astringent], when will I do madhukari in Vraja, begging small

amounts of foodstuffs from house to house?

parikrama kariya bedaba vane-vane

vishrama koriba jai yamuna-puline (4)

Doing parikrama of the holy places, I will roam from forest to forest, and then I will

rid myself of all fatigue by taking rest on the banks of the Yamuna.

tapa dura kariba shitala vamshi-vate

(kabe) kunje baithaba hama vaishnava-nikate (5)

Then, I will go to the cooling Vamshi-vata, where my burning heart will find relief.

When will I sit in a kunja amidst the Vaishnavas (who will instruct me in bhajana and

reveal to me the lilas of Shri Radha-Madhava)?

narottama dasa kahe kari’ parihara

kabe va emana dasha haibe amara (6)

Narottama dasa says, “When, oh when will I give up all bad association (and be able

to have darshana of Their love-filled pastimes)?
