Just worship Shri Gaurahari, who is always affectionate towards His devotees. He is

none other than Krishna, who roamed with the cows from forest to forest, and who stole

the hearts of Nanda and Yashoda. (1)

Yashoda-maiya calls, “O Damodara, it is very late. Please come right now. Sit down

to take Your meal in the dining pavilion (bhoga-mandira). (2)

Upon Nanda Baba’s order, Krishna, who lifted Govardhana Hill, sits down. Then all the

sakhas along with Baladeva sit down in rows to take their lunch. (3)

Then they are given fried mung and urad dahl patties, capatis, and rice with ghee.

They are served a feast of shukta and various kinds of green leafy vegetables, then nice

fried things, and a salad made of jute leaves. They are also served pumpkin, baskets

of fruit, squash cooked in milk with sugar (luk-lauki), thick yoghurt, and bananaflower

sabji. (4)

Next, sweets made with milk, sugar, and sesame, rice-flour pancakes, thick condensed

milk, sweet rolls and sweet rice. (5)

There is amrita-keli scented with camphor which is so tasteful and more than sweet.

There is sweet rice cooked with bananas, and also amrita rasala. They are also served

twelve kinds of sour preparations made with tamarinds, tomatoes, limes, lemons,

oranges and pomegranates. (6)

There are puris with sugar, puris filled with cream, laddus and dahl patties boiled in

sugar-water. Krishna very joyfully eats all of the preparations. (7)

In supreme bliss Krishna takes the rice, various curried vegetables and sweets cooked

by Shrimati Radharani. (8)

Krishna’s funny brahmana friend Madhumangala, who is very fond of ladòus, gets

them by hook or by crook. As he eats a laòòu, he makes a funny sound by slapping

his hand under his armpit and calls out, “Give me more! Haribol!” (9)

Beholding Shrimati Radharani and Her sakhis out of the corners of His eyes, Krishna

takes His lunch at Yashoda-maiya’s house with great satisfaction. (10)

After lunch Krishna drinks rose-scented water. Then all the sakhas, standing in lines,

wash their mouths. (11)

[Break here to offer to Gurudeva and Vrajavasis]

After washing their hands and mouths, all the sakhas take rest in great bliss with

Baladeva. (12)

Then the sakhas Jambula and Rasala bring Krishna spiced betel nuts. After chewing that

Krishnacandra happily goes to sleep. (13)

While Krishna contentedly sleeps on His beautiful bed, His servant Vishalaksha cools

Him, sometimes with a peacock-feather fan and sometimes with a camara. (14)

Upon Yashoda-maiya’s request, Dhanishtha brings the remnants of food left on Krishna’s

plate to Shrimati Radhika, who takes them with great delight. (15)

Receiving Her remnants, Lalita-devi and all the other sakhis, very deeply overjoyed,

sing the glories of Radhika and Krishna. (16)

Thakura Bhaktivinoda, who finds joy only in the pastimes of Hari, sings this Bhogaarati

song! (17)
