Shri Chaitanya Shataka
sankirtanarambha krite 'pi
dhavanti jiva shravane gunani
ashuddha cittah kim u shuddha-cittah
shrutva pramattah khalu te nanartuh
sankirtana-congregational; arambha-begun; krite-done; api-although; gaure-by the Golden Lord; dhavanti-begging; jiva-of the living beings; shravane-through the ears; gunani-the qualities; ashuddha-cittah-those with impure hearts; kim u-what; shuddha-cittah-pure minded persons; shrutva-hearing; pramattah-very intoxicated; khalu-indeed; te-they; nanartuh-danced.
As soon as Lord Gauranga began the auspicious congregational chanting of the holy names of the Lord, at that time the living entities, who were tormented by Kali became stunned hearing the wonderful qualities of the Lord and they rushed to the site of the sankirtana-yajna. All the pure and sinful persons on hearing that congregational chanting became maddened and danced.
