Shri Chaitanya Shataka
avatirnah punah krishno
magnas tribhaga papesmin
tesham tranasya hetave
avatirnah-descended; punah-again; krishnah-Shri Krishna; gauracandrah-Golden Moon-like Lord; sanatanah-eternal; magnah-drowned; tribhaga-three kinds; pape-in sin; asmin-in this; tesham-for them; tranasya-of protecting; hetave-for the purpose.
When the universe became three fourths filled with sin, the eternal Lord Shri Krishna appeared at Navadvipa as Shri Gaurasundara. He appeared in order to deliver the wretched living entities of Kali-yuga, who were drowning in the ocean of birth and death.
