Eight Prayers Glorifying the Parama-guru

Text 1

 

prapanna-jana-nivriti jvalati samsriti-jvalaya

     yadiya-nayanoditatula-kripati-vrishtir drutam

vidhuya davathum karoty amala-bhakti-vapyaucitim

     sa krishnacaranah„ prabhuh„ pradishatu sva-padamritam

 

     prapanna - surrendered; jana - souls; nivriti - in the country; jvalati - burns; samsriti - of the material world; jvalaya - with the flames; yadiya - of whom;  nayana - from the eyes; udita - risen; atula - peerless; kripa - mercy; ati - great; vrishtih - shower; drutam - quickly; vidhuya - shaking away; davathum - fire; karoty - does; amala - pure; bhakti - devotional service; vapy - lake;  aucitim - proper; sah - he; krishnacaranah - Krishnacarana; prabhuh - Prabhu; pradishatu - may show; sva-pada - of his feet; amritam - the nectar.

 

 

     May Shri Krishnacarana Prabhu show me the nectar of his feet. With the peerless shower of mercy that rains from his eyes he extinguishes the flames of material life that torment the surrendered souls. Then he shows these souls how to swim in clear lake of pure devotional service.

 

 

Text 2

 

yad-asya-kamalodita vraja-bhuvo mahimnam tatih

     shruta bata visarjayet prati-kalatra-putralayan

kalinda-tanaya-tati-vana-kutira-vasam nayet

     sa krishnacaranah prabhuh„ pradishatu sva-padamritam

 

     yat - of whom; asya - of the mouth; kamala - lotus;  udita - risen; vraja-bhuvah - of the land of Vraja; mahimnam - of the glory; tatih - expansion; shruta - heard; bata - indeed; visarjayet - may renounce;  prati - every; kalatra - wife; putra - child; alayan - and home; kalinda-tanaya - of the Yamuna; tati - by the shore; vana - in the forest; kutira - cottage; vasam - home; nayet - may stay.

 

 

     May Shri Krishnacarana Prabhu show me the nectar of his feet. The glorious words that come from his mouth are famous in the land of Vraja. Renouncing wife, children, and home, he lives in a small hut by the Yamuna's shore.

 

 

Text 3

 

vrajambuja-drisham katham bhavati bhava-bhuma katham

     bhaved anugatih katham kim iha sadhanam ko 'dhikrit

iti sphutam avaiti ko yad-upadesha-bhagyam vina

     sa krishnacaranah prabhuh pradishatu sva-padamritam

 

     vrajambuja-drisham - of the lotus-eyed girls of Vraja; katham - how?; bhavati - is; bhava-bhuma - the abode of ecstatic love; katham - how?; bhavet - is; anugatih - following; katham - how?; kim - whether?; iha - here; sadhanam - spiritual activities; kah - who?;  adhikrit - qualified; iti - thus; sphutam - manifested; avaiti - knows; kah - who?; yad-upadesha-bhagyam - the glory of his teachings; vina - without.

 

 

     May Shri Krishnacarana Prabhu show me the nectar of his feet. Without hearing his glorious teachings, who can understand the ecstatic love felt by the lotus-eyed girls of Vraja?, who can follow in their footsteps?, who can understand true devotional service?, and who can become qualified to engage in devotional service?

 

 

Text 4

 

tapasvi-yati-karminam sadasi tarkikanam tatha

     prati-svamata-vaidushi-prakatanaudha-garva-shriyam

virajati ravir yatha tamasi yah sva-bhakty-ojasa

     sa krishnacaranah prabhuh pradishatu sva-padamritam

 

     tapasvi - ascetics; yati - sannyasis; karminam - of pious fruitive workers; sadasi - in the assembly; tarkikanam - of logicians; tatha - so; prati-svamata-vaidushi-prakatanaudha-garva-shriyam - each proudly proclaiming his own philosophy; virajati - shines; ravih - sun; yatha - as; tamasi - in the darkness; yah - who; sva-bhakty-ojasa - with the power of his own devotional service.

 

 

     May Shri Krishnacarana Prabhu show me the nectar of his feet. As the sun shines in the darkness, he shines, splendid with the power of devotional service, in the assembly of ascetics, sannyasis, karmis, and logicians, each proudly proclaiming the glory of his own theory.

 

 

Text 5

 

kim adya paridhasyate kim atha bhojyate radhaya

     samam madana-mohano madana-koti-nimajjitah

itishtha-varivasyaya nayati yo 'shta-yaman sada

     sa krishnacaranah„ prabhuh„ pradishatu sva-padamritam

 

     kim - whether?; adya - now; paridhasyate - will be worn; kim - whwther?; atha - then; bhojyate - is enjoyed; radhaya - with Radha; samam - equal; madana-mohanah - he who is more charming than Kamadeva; madana - of Kamadevas' koti - millions; nimajjitah -  - plunged;  iti - thus; ishta - desired; varivasyaya - with devotion; nayati - leads; yah - who; ashta-yaman - the eight periods of the day; sada - always.

 

 

     May Shri Krishnacarana Prabhu show me the nectar of his feet. Thinking,  How are Radha and Krishna dressed and decorated now? What pastime does Shri Krishna, who is plunged in glory greater than that of millions of Kamadevas, enjoy now with Shri Radha?", he always passes the eight hours of the day and night rapt in devotional service to his worshipable Lord.

 

 

Text 6

 

mridanga-karatalika-madhura-kirtane nartayan

     janan sukritino natan svayam api pramodambudhau

nimajjati drig-ambubhih pulaka-sankulah snati yah

     sa krishnacaranah„ prabhuh„ pradishatu sva-padamritam

 

     mridanga - mrdangas; karatalika - and karatalas; madhura - sweet; kirtane - in kirtana; nartayan - causing to dance; janan - the people; sukritinah - pious; natan - dnacing; svayam - personally; api - also; pramoda - of bliss; ambudhau - in the ocean; nimajjati - plunges; drig - from hism eyes; ambubhih - with water; pulaka-sankulah - the hairs of his body erect; snati - bathes; yah - who.

 

 

     May Shri Krishnacarana Prabhu show me the nectar of his feet. In the midst of the sweet kirtana sung with mridangas and karatalas, he personally dances and he encourages the saintly devotees to dance also. He plunges into the ocean of bliss. The hairs of his body stand erect. He bathes in the tears that flow from his eyes.

 

 

Text 7

 

samam bhagavato janaih pravara-bhakti-shastroditam

     rasam surasayan muhuh parijanamsh ca yah svadayan

sva-shishya-shata-veshtito jayati cakravarty-akhyaya

     sa krishnacaranah„ prabhuh„ pradishatu sva-padamritam

 

     samam - with; bhagavatah - of the Supreme Personality of Godhead; janaih - the people; pravara-bhakti-shastroditam - described in the excellent scriptures of devotional service; rasam - the rasas; surasayan - explains; muhuh - again and again;parijanan - associates; ca - and; yah - who; svadayan - causes to relish; sva - own; shishya - of disciples; shata - by hundreds; veshtitah - surrounded; jayati - is glorious; cakravarty-akhyaya - by

the name Cakravarti.

 

 

     May Shri Krishnacarana Prabhu show me the nectar of his feet. With the devotees of the Lord again and again he discussess the rasas described in the best scriptures of devotional service. He teaches his associates how to taste the sweetness in the descriptions of the rasas. Surrounded by hundreds of disciples, he is glorious with the title Cakravarti.

 

 

Text 8

 

sthitih sura-sarit-tate madana-mohano jivanam

     spriha rasika-sangame caturima janoddharane

ghrina vishayishu kshama jhatiti yasya canuvraje

     sa krishnacaranah prabhuh pradishatu sva-padamritam

 

     sthitih - situation; sura-sarit-tate - on the shore of the Ganga; madana-mohanah - Krishna, who is more charming than Kamadeva; jivanam - the life; spriha - the desire; rasika-sangame - relishing the nectar of the rasas; caturima - expert; jana - the people; uddharane - is delivering; ghrina - mercy; vishayishu - among the materialists; kshama - tolerance; jhatiti - at once; yasya - of whom;ca - and; anuvraje - to the follower.

 

 

     May Shri Krishnacarana Prabhu show me the nectar of his feet. His home is by the Ganga's bank. His life and soul is Lord Krishna, who is more charming than Kamadeva. His desire is to associate with the rasika devotees. His talent rests in delivering the conditioned souls. His compassion is directed to the materialists. His forgiveness is directed to his followers.

 

 

Text 9

 

idam prabhuvarashtakam pathati yas tadiyo janais

     tad-anghri-kamaleshta-dhih sa khalu rangavat-prema-bhak

vilasa-bhrita-manjulayati-kripaika-patri-bhavan

     nikunja-nilayadhipav aciram eva tau sevate

 

     idam - this; prabhuvara - the best of masters; ashtakam - eight verses; pathati - reads; yah - who; tadiyah - own;janaih - with people; tat - of him; anghri-kamala - lotus feet; ishta - worship;dhih - intelligence; sa - he; khalu - indeed; rangavat-prema-bhak - possesing ecstatic spirtiual love; vilasa - pastimes; bhrita-manjulayati-kripaika - of sweet and great mercy; patri-bhavan - becoming the object; nikunja-nilaya - of the forestgroves; adhipau - the two rulers; aciram - quickly; eva - indeed; tau - Them; sevate - serves.

 

 

     Anyone who reads these eight verses glorifying the best of masters will become full of love for the playful divine couple. His heart will become fixed on worshiping Their lotus feet. He will attain the mercy of the playful divine couple. Very soon he will directly serve the divine couple, who rule the forests of Vraja.
