hiranya-varnam harinim suvarna-rajatas-rajam |
candram hiranmayim laksmim jatavedo ma avaha || 1 ||
"Jatavedas is implored on behalf of the devotee to invoke Laksmi, who is hiranya-varna, hiran-mayi, 'radiant as gold,' harini, 'reddish yellow,' who is bedecked with a necklace of gold and silver and suvarna-rajatasraja-candra, 'radiant as the moon."
tam ma avaha jatavedo laksmim-anapa-gaminim |
yasyam hiranyam vindeyam gam-asvam purusan-aham || 2 ||
Jataveda is implored to invoke the presence of Laksmi, who is firm and steady (anapa-gamini), and bestows gold, cattle, horses and human-beings."
asva-purvam ratha-madhyam hasti-nada-prabodhinim |
shriyam devim-upahvaye shrima devi jusatam || 3 ||
"Shri is the mistress of all creatures 'Isvari' and has the best of horses (asva-purva); she is seated on the middle of the chariot (ratha-madhya); she is delighted by the roaring of the elephant (hasti-nada-pramodini). ?????NEXT LINE?????
kam sosmitam hiranya-prakaram ardram jvalantim trptam tarpayantim |
padme sthitam padmavarnam tvam ihopahvaye shriyam || 4 ||
" She is dressed in gold (hiranyaprakara), she is moist (ardra), she is seated on a lotus (padmesthita) and she has the colour of a lotus (padmavarna)."
candram prabhasam yasasa jvalantim shriyam loke deva-justam udaram |
tam padminimim saranam aham prapadye'laksmir me nasyatam tvam vrne || 5 ||
"Goddess Shri is radiant as the moon, lustrous like fire (jvalanti), she is honoured by all the demigods; She is bountiful (udara); she appears like a lovely lotus (padmanemi); Goddess Shri is resorted to so that Alaksmi (the personification of poverty) may be removed."
aditya-varne tapaso-`dhijato vanaspatis-tava vrkso'tha bilvah |
tasya phalani tapasa nudantu mayantarayas ca bahya alaksmih || 6 ||
"Goddess Shri is resplendent as the sun (aditya-varna); through her austerities, the Bilva tree was born; the goddess is prayed to so that through her mercy the Bilva fruits may dispel Alaksmi."
upaitu mam deva-sakhah kirtis ca manina saha |
pradurbhuto'smi rastre'smin kirtim rddhim dadatu me || 7 ||
