Shri Nityananda Prabhu

nityanandam aham vande karne lambita-mauktikam
chaitanyagraja-rupena pavitri-krita-bhutalam (1)
I offer my praise
unto Shri Nityananda from whose ear a pearl ornament hangs. Shri Nityananda
accepted the form of the elder brother of Lord Chaitanya and thus He purified
the earth planet.
pranamya shri-jagannatham / nityananda-mahaprabhum
namnam ashöottara-shatam / pravakshyami mudakaram (2)
After offering
prostrated obeisances before Shri Nityananda Mahaprabhu, the lord of the
universe, I shall proclaim His one hundred and eight names which arouse ecstacy
in the heart.
nilambara-dharah shrimal-languli mushala-priyah
sankarshanash candra-varno yadunam kula-mangalah (3)
1 nilambara-dharah=Shri Nityananda wears blue garments.
2 shrimat-languli=the splendid wielder of the plough
3 mushala-priyah=delights in fighting with His club.
4 sankarshanah=Shri Nityananda causes integration and
disintegration of the cosmic manifestation, (gravity).
5 candra-varnah= His complexion is like the moon
6 yadunam kula-mangalah=harbinger of auspiciousness for the Yadu
dynasty.
gopika-ramano ramo vrindavana-kala-nidhih
kadambari sudha-matto gopa-gopi-ganavritah (4)
7 gopika-ramanah=delights in the company of the gopis.
8 ramah=the supreme enjoyer.
9 vrindavana-kala-nidhih=the moon of Vrindavana.
10 kadambari=decorated by garlands of Kadamba flowers.
11 sudha-mattah=intoxicated by honey nectar.
12 gopa-gopi-ganavritah=surrounded by a multitude of cowherd boys
and milkmaids.
gopi-mandala-madhya-stho rasa-tandava-panditah
ramani-ramanah kami mada-ghurnita-locanah (5)
13 gopi-mandala-madhya-sthah=Shri Nityananda stands amidst the
circle of milkmaids.
14 rasa-tandava-panditah=is
skilled in rasa dancing.
15 ramani-ramanah=He is the lover of the beautiful young girls of
Vraja.
16 kami=amorous.
17 mada-ghurnita-locanah=His eyes roll in intoxication.
ramotsava-parishranto gharma-niravritananah
kalindi-bhedanotsahi nira-krida-kutuhalah (6)
18 ramotsava-parishrantah=exhausted due to the festival of
pleasure.
19 gharma-nira-avrita-ananah=face covered by perspiration.
20 kalindi-bhedana-utsahi=the mighty Lord who divided the Yamuna
River into many streams with His ploughshare.
21 nira-krida-kutuhalah=eager to engage in watersports.
gaurashrayah shamah shanto maya-manusha-rupa-dhrik
nityanandavadhutash ca yajna-sutra-dharah sudhi (7)
22 gaura-ashrayah=Shri Nityananda takes shelter of Gaura, 23
samah=equipoised.
24 shantah=peaceful.
maya-manusha-rupa-dhrik=Shri Nityananda accepts the apparent form
of a man.
25 nityananda-avadhutah=The ever blissful Lord is transcendental to social convention.
26 yajnasutra-dharah=Shri Nityananda wears a sacred thread for
performing sacrificial performances.
27 sudhi=of auspicious intelligence.
patita-prana-dah prithvi-pavano bhakta-vatsalah
premananda-madonmatta-brahmadi-nama-gocarah (8)
28 patita-prana-dah = Shri Nityananda the bestower of life-energy
to those fallen (in the world of death.)
29 prithvi-pavanah = Shri Nityananda purifies the earth (by His
auspicious feet.)
30 bhakta-vatsalah = Shri Nityananda affectionate to His devotees,
31 prema-ananda-mada-unmatta = mad with the intoxication of
blissful love for Gaura.
32 brahma-adi-nama-gocarah = His names are known by Brahma
(Haridasa) and others.

33 vanamala-dharah = Shri Nityananda wears a garland of forest
flowers.
34 hari = and a necklace of pearls.
35 rocana-adi-vibhusitah=Shri Nityananda ornamented by red-lotuses
and so forth.
36 nagendra-shunda-doh-danda-svarna-kankana-manditah =His arms
which resemble the trunks of elephants are decorated by golden bangles.

gajendra-gati-lavanya-sammohita-jagaj-janah (10)
37 gaura-bhakti-rasa-ullasah = Shri Nityananda delights in the
mellows of devotional service to Lord Chaitanya
38 calat-cancala-nupurah=His anklets ring as His body sways to and
fro,
39 gajendra-gati = Shri Nityananda walks like the elephant-king.
40 lavanya-sammohita-jagat-janah =the people of the world are fascinated by His
beauty.
ho! ho! dhvani-sudhasishcan mukha-candra-virajita
samvita-shubha-lila-dhrik romancita-kalevarah (11)
41 ho! ho! dhvani-sudha-ashih = Shri Nityananda awards nectarean
benediction as He cries out, “Ho! Ho!.” 42 mukha-candra-virajita = His face
shines like the full moon. 43 samvita-shubha-lila-dhrik = Shri Nityananda
accepts auspicious pleasure-pastimes which hide His identity as the Supreme
Lord.
44 roma-ancita-kalevarah = All the hairs of His body stand on end.
sindhuraruna-susnigdha-subimbadhara-pallavah
sva-bhakta-gana-madhya-stho revati-prana-nayakah (12)
45 sindhura-aruna-susnigdha-subimbadhara-pallavah = His tender
blossoming lips are red like bimba fruit or vermilion.
46 sva-bhakta-gana-madhya-sthah= Shri Nityananda resides within
the midst of the multitude of His own devotees.
47 revati-prana-nayakah = Shri Nityananda, who is none other than
Lord Balarama, is the Lord of Revati-rani’s life.
lauha-danda-dharo shringi venu-panih pratapavan
pracanda-krita-hunkarah mattah pashanda-mardanah (13)
48 lauha-danda-dharah = Shri Nityananda wields an iron staff, 49
shringi = and wears wonderful ornaments.
51 venu-panih = Shri Nityananda plays on the bamboo flute.
50 pratapavan =His body is the abode of spendour.
51 pracanda-krita-hunkarah = Shri Nityananda roars fiercely.
52 mattah =In his ecstacy of love for Lord Gaura Shri Nityananda
displays the signs of divine madness.
53 pashanda-mardanah = Shri Nityananda is the subduer of atheist
persons.

gunatito guna-mayo gunavan nartana-priyah (14)
54 sarva-bhakti-mayah =Shri Nityananda is embued with all
devotional attributes.
55 devah = Shri Nityananda is the lord of luster.
56 ashrama-acara-vanditah = Shri Nityananda is to be worshipped
through the practice of prescribed duties in accordance with one’s ashrama.
(brahmacarya, grihastha, vanaprastha and sannyasa.)
57 guna-atitah = Shri Nityananda is transcendental to the mundane
qualities.
58 guna-mayah =and filled with sublime qualities.
59 gunavan =Shri Nityananda is the embodiment of exalted
qualities.
60 nartana-priyah = Shri Nityananda loves to dance.
tri-gunatma guna-grahi saguno guninam varah
yogi yoga-vidhata ca bhakti-yoga-pradarshakah (15)
61 tri-gunatma = Shri Nityananda is the original source of the
three material qualities - goodness, passion and ignorance.
62 guna-grahi = Shri Nityananda accepts only good qualities (He
disregards bad qualities).
63 sugunah =Shri Nityananda has transcendental qualities.
64 guninam varah =Shri Nityananda is the best among qualified
persons.
65 yogi = Shri Nityananda is in union with Shri Krishna Chaitanya,
66 yoga-vidhata =Shri Nityananda bestows yoga union with Shri Chaitanya.
67 bhakti-yoga-pradarshakah = Shri Nityananda proclaims the
glories of union with Shri Krishna Chaitanya.

sarvagama-mayo dhiro jnana-do mukti-dah prabhuh (16)
68 sarva-shakti-prakasha-angi = from Shri Nityananda’s body all
powers arise.
69 mahananda-mayah =Shri Nityananda is filled with immense bliss, 70 naöah = Shri
Nityananda is a best of dancers,
71 sarva-agama-mayah= in Shri Nityananda is ‘s person all the
shastras (holy scriptures) reside, 72 dhirah=Shri Nityananda is sober,
73 jnana-dah=Shri Nityananda is the bestower of transcendental
knowledge, 74 mukti-dah = Shri Nityananda is the giver of liberation, 75
prabhuh =Shri Nityananda is the Master.

76 gauda-desha-paritrata = Shri Nityananda is the saviour of the
land of Gauda,

Krishna-prema.
78 premananda-rasa-anandi = Shri Nityananda tastes delight in the
mellows of blissful love for Krishna.
79 radhika-mantra-dah = Shri Nityananda endows the Radhika mantra.
80 vibhuh = Shri Nityananda is self controlled and all-pervasive.

rasa-jno rasa-data ca rasa-bhokta rasashrayah (18)
81 sarva-mantra-svarupah = Shri Nityananda is the original form of
all mantras.
82 krisna-paryanka-sundarah = and Shri Nityananda becomes the
beautiful bedstead of Krishna.
83 rasa-jnah = Shri Nityananda is adept in the science of rasa.
84 rasa-data = Shri Nityananda is bestower of rasa.
85 rasa-bhokta = Shri Nityananda is the enjoyer of rasa.
86 rasa-ashrayah =Shri Nityananda is the abode of rasa.

sahasra-mastakopeto rasatala-sudhakarah (19)
87 brahma-isha-adi-mahendra- adya-vandita-shri-padambujah = His
lotus feet are offered worship by the devas headed by Brahma and Indra.
88 sahasra-mastaka-upetah = Shri Nityananda has thousands of
heads.
89 rasatala-sudhakarah =(by the touch of his lotus feet) Shri
Nityananda makes the earth taste nectar.
kshirodarnava-sambhutah kundalaikavatamsakah
raktotpala-dharah shubhro narayana-parayanah (20)
90 kshira-udarnava-sambhutah = Shri Nityananda is born of the milk
ocean.
91 kundala-eka-avatamsakah = Shri Nityananda is ornamented by one
earring.
92 rakta-utpala-dharah =Shri Nityananda wears red lotuses.
93 shubhrah = Shri Nityananda is radiant.
94 narayana-parayanah =Shri Nityananda is wholly dedicated to
Gaura Narayana.
apara-mahimananto nri-dosha-darshinah sada
dayalu durgati-trata kritanto dushöa-dehinam (21)
95 apara-mahima = Shri Nityananda possesses unbounded glories.
96 anantah = Shri Nityananda is limitless.
97 nri-dosha-darshinah sada = Shri Nityananda eternally witnesses
the vices of mankind.
98 dayalu = Shri Nityananda is merciful.
99 durgati-trata = Shri Nityananda is the saviour from
catastrophe.
100 kritantah dushöa-dehinam = Shri Nityananda awards death to
embodied beings who do evil deeds.
manju-dasharathir viro lakshmanah sarvaval-labhah
sadojjvalo rasanandi vrindavana-rasa-pradah (22)
101 manju-dasarathih = Shri Nityananda is the charming descendant
of Rama.
102 virah =Shri Nityananda is the greatest hero.
103 lakshmanah =Shri Nityananda is the avatara of Lakshmana.
104 sarvavat-labhah = by gaining whom one gains everything, 105
sada ujjvalah = Shri Nityananda is always effulgent.
106 rasanandi = Shri Nityananda is engladdened by the
transcendental relationships of Krishna consciousness.
107 vrindavana-rasa-pradah = bestower of the Vrindavana rasa.
purna-prema-sudha-sindhur naöya-lila-visharadah
koöindu-vaibhavah shriman jagad-ahlada-karakah (23)
108 purna-prema-sudha-sindhuh = Shri Nityananda is the ocean of
the full nectar of love for Krishna.
109 naöya-lila-visharadah = Shri Nityananda is expert in the
pastimes of drama.
110 koöi-indu-vaibhavah = Shri Nityananda has the cooling power of
millions of moons.
111 shriman = Shri Nityananda is illustrious.
113 jagad-ahlada-karakah =Shri Nityananda engladdens the whole
cosmos,
gopalah sarva-palash ca sarva-gopavatamsakah
maghe masi site pakshe trayodashyam tithau sada (24)
114 gopalah = Shri Nityananda is the protector of the cows.
115 sarva-palah = Shri Nityananda is the protector of all.
116 sarva-gopa-avatamsakah = Shri Nityananda is the crest-jewel of
all cowherd boys,
maghe masi site pakshe trayodashyam tithau sada (24)
uposhanam pujanam ca shri-nityananda-vasare
yad yat kurute kamam tat tad eva labhen narah (25)
In the month of Magha,
in the bright fortnight, on the thirteenth day of the moon one who regularly
fasts and offers worship on the appearance of Shri Nityananda, whatever wish
one may make, will be fulfilled.
asadhya-roga-yukto 'pi mucyate gada-bhishanat
aputrah sadhu-putram ca labhate natra samshayah (26)
Although infected
by an incurable disease, a man becomes freed from that terrible disease and a
sonless man without a doubt receives a godly son.
nityananda-svarupasya namnam ashöottaram shatam
yah paöhet pratar utthaya sah premni labhed dhruvam (27)
One who rises early
in the morning and recites the Hundred and Eight Names of Shri Nityananda
Svarupa truly achieves love of Krishna.
