The Extraordinary Benefits of finonsorine a Kalasa

by Naveen Krishna Dasa Director of Fund-raising

Vedic writings strongly suggest that charity be given to a person involved in spiritual activities. There is no recommendation for giving charity indiscriminately. Spiritual advancement is always the main consideration.Charity given to brahmanas and Vaisnavas, who engage everything in the service of the Lord, indirectly benefits the giver, for he is relieved of sinful reactions and inauspiciousness.Charity is especially meant to be practiced by householders. Householders earning a livelihood by honest and honorable means should, according to Vedic literature, spend 50% of their income on propagating the mission of Lord Krishna all over the world. In Bhagavad-gita (17.5), Krishna says that acts of charity, sacrifice and penance are not to be given up but must be performed and that charity, sacrifice and penance purify even the great souls.Bali Maharaja, for example, offered everything to Lord Vamana— his wealth, his kingdom, even his own body, sarvatma-nivedane balih. The Lord had appeared before Bali Maharaja as a dwarf-brahmana boy begging, and Bali ultimately gave Him everything he had. However, Bali Maharaja did not become poor by donating all his possessions to the Supreme Personality of Godhead. He became a successful devotee and got everything back again with the blessings of the Lord. Similarly, those who contributed to the expansion of the activities of the Krishna consciousness movement and helped it accomplish its objectives during this Centennial year will never be losers. They will get back their wealth with the blessings of Lord Krishna. His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada is undoubtedly the most qualified person to receive charity to propagate

gain, and he employed all charity that he received solely for the devotional service of the Lord. His followers and assistants try to carry on this work of Lord Krishna in the same spirit.

By giving charity wholeheartedly for a kalasa and sacred water, donors have strengthened and expanded Srila Prabhupada's ISKCON society, which is committed to carrying out the order of Lord Krishna and Lord Caitanya. Those who gave, as well as those who received, cooperated in a mutually beneficial and rewarding arrangement to experience the extraordinary benefits of giving charity described by the Lord in Vedic literatures. To experience the extraordinary benefits of giving in charity, those with the means to give have done so joyfully, and those who received the charity used it in the most careful way to expand the good fortune of people all over the world by distributing the mercy of Srila Prabhupada. The sponsors of kalasas of sacred water have supported the production of all the Centennial promotional materials and guidelines, world-class Centennial events and programs, Srila Prabhupada's Samadhi fund, the Calcutta Maha-Vyasa-puja celebration and the global and continental coordination of the Centennial. To all the sponsors we offer our heartfelt thanks. They have gotten the extraordinary benefits of giving charity and have received the purification obtainable by associating with 1008 auspicious waters.
