nibaddha-murdhasjalir esa yace

nirandhra-dainyonnati-mukta-kanthah

dayd-nidhe deva bhavat-katdksa-

ddksinya-lesena sakrn nisisca

 

nibaddha—fixed; murdha—on the head; asjalih—folded palms; esa—this one (I); yace—prays; nlrandhra— gapless (constant); dainya—pitiable misery (i.e., pain of separation from Krsna); unnati—increasing; mukta— opened; kanthah—throat; daya—of mercy; nidhe— Ocean; deva—O Lord; bhavad—Your; kataksa— sidelong glance; daksinya—kindness; lesena—a drop; sakrt—once; nisisca—anoint.

 

I fix my joined palms upon my head and, given voice by my increasing, ceaseless, pitiable misery, pray, "O Lord, O ocean of mercy, please anoint me just once with a drop of kindness from Your sidelong glance.
